It does depend on where you are departing. I live in Los Angeles and the rate can vary from around $800-1,000 depending on how far in advance I reserve the tickets. Right now Cathay Pacific Airlines is having a special from the west coast for $734 r/t. When I checked it totaled over $800 for the fare. this is good to November 30th.

Try the following:
www.china-airlines.com
www.cathay-pacific.com
www.sidestep.com
www.kayak.com
www.expedia.com
www.orbitz.com

I still once in a while find a good fare and times on Orbitz and Expedia. You have to check all your options. Afternoon departures from LAX seem to have the lowest fares.

Good luck.

The cheapest flights are round-trip from LAX to BKK. I have found that for these international flights it is cheaper to buy your ticket directly from the airline's website rather than through a discount travel site. I usually check Expedia just to get an idea of who is cheapest at the time, and then go to their website (usually $50-100 cheaper). For my last trip I bought my ticket through China Airlines, and due to a special they were having, paid only about $650 round-trip LAX/BKK. Good luck!
