Go to Midas or Exhaust Pro, for what it cost to have a muffler installed it isn't worth the headache. I am a Ford tech with access to a full shop and tools and I still have my exhaust work done by someone else cause it blows.

1. Cut old muffler off with saw, close to the body of the muffler.
It may be necessary to remove the system or partially detach it to do this.
2. Insert new muffler the same size but with small collars each end to fit over existing pipe.
3. Use exhaust clamps to fix to existing pipe or weld on.
4. Alternately replace the system from engine to tailpipe.

Ok, the Ford Mechanic is right about do it yourself total replacement of the muffler. However if your hole is on the bottom side of the muffler, you can buy yourself a lil time by getting muffler tape and applying to the muffler until you have saved enough $$$ for replacement. However, you are gonna have to replace it soon the tape is only gonna buy you the time to save up for it.

A cutting torch or a riciprocating saw to cut out the old muffler, and a stick welder to weld the new one on. The exact same way the muffler shops do it.
