i dont mind abbreviations like don't or wasn't...
i HATE i mean HATE text lingo, like you just described.

i guess its somewhat understandable if you are on a cell phone, but other than that i think its rude, shows lack of intelligence, and just plain annoying.

I think abbreviations are ok if the person has a good reason.
For example a lot of my coworkers have Blackberry's. It is a pain in the butt to type all the words out, especially when you're in a hurry. So give the guy/gal a break, the person may be overwhelmed and is trying to maximize their time to the fullest.

When I read that message I thought it was written in Chinese for a second, until you gave the translation below. And yes, I can not stand when people shorten words because sometimes it's hard to tell what they're trying to say, especially when you don't know what the abbreviations mean.

I hate abbreviations in written conversations. For me it is a kind of disrespect, if somebody has not enough time to type one or two letters more, so he/she should let it be at all. In my personal opinion.

I totally agree with you. I said the same thing on here the other day. I think it is totally disrespectful that they can't take the time for you to spell complete words. Texting is ok, but it can go to extremes sometimes too.

Disrespectul, childish and lazy, that´s what I think about people who write this way. The worst thing is that when they
have to write long sentences they have forgotten their grammar and spelling!
Did you answer the message?

Thank you thank you thank you! I thought I was the only one. I think it is just laziness. Meeting and ASAP are fine but all the other stuff just sounds childish.

i dont mind the odd word shortened to fit a message into a text, but i absolutely can't stand it when people shorten things for no reason!! grrr!!! I think it just makes people sound unintelligent even if they aren't!

it's ok if there are only about two or three in a message, but if there's a ton, then yes...You're job sounds cool, what is it?

I think those are not abbreviations. They are exagerations
