Isaiah's name means "Salvation of The Lord"
The first ch is interesting, where Isaiah is given the word of God to tell the ppl of Judah how they have turned their backs on God..but in v 18; God is saying come let's reason together; though your sins be red as crimson, they will be white as snow..so Almighty God is saying to His ppl; you are against me and i love you so much i desire you listen to me and walk with in tune with me...
Isa, is one of my fave books..ch 6; Isa has a vision of the Holiest part of the temple, where the angels/seraphs call Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God almighty. Ch 7; It's foretold Mary shall have a son and His name shall be Immanuel. Isa 9; 6 His name shall be wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlsting Father, Prince of peace. Ch11v1; A root out of Jesse, which is Jesus (Messiah) verse6; the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid,and the calf and the young lion, and the domestic animal together(Amp)...ch40;28..God never grows weary, v31, those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength..Isa ch42..ch43..when you pass through the waters I'll be with you God says..Isa60; Amp: Arise from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you, arise to a new life; shine, be radiant with the glory of The Lord..your light has come, for the glory of The Lord has risen upon you...all of this word of God is so beautiful i am at a loss for words to discribe it adequately...i just adore Isa..
Sorry i have gone on too long..hope you find something that blesses you abundantly...
BA, you are loved xxx

No. You need to read it and remember who the original readers of the text were, to put in context. Isaiah was one of the 8th century prophets, trying to get the people to turn away from worshipping other gods, and regain a sense of justice. The Israelites had stopped living according to God's covenant, and so were not caring for the poor, the widows, the orphans. We have to remember that "prophecy" isn't neccessarily telling the future. There is also a message of "if you do this, then God will do this," or "if you don't turn from your ways, here is what will happen."

No, and neither does Revelation.

Does Isaiah 53 scare you are inspire you?
Even Isaiah 5 should not scare a Christian.

If God be with you, who can be against you.

I just find it really exciting! I would love to experience some of the things that he experienced - but then I know THAT would probably scare the living daylights out of me.

I like Isaiah as it is the only book in the old Testament that tells us that Jesus (the messiah) is coming...the first time...and what the future holds for Him.
I think the first time I read it as a baby Christian I found it a little scary but it is just one of those special books when you get to know it.
Best wishes, Mike.

Ask for understanding God reveals and he healed. Isaiah is a beautiful book. Demonstrating the character of our creator and God's intent for man. He is our protecter and he does forgive. Isaiah is my favorite book. Save the fear and scare for the disobediant.

As a general rule; I presently find Isaiah admonishing to me. Is there a text(s) in it that presently bothers 'Christians', that currently I have not 'picked up on'?
