I have a 2006 Ford focus and I love My car ask them to knock off a couple hundred bucks for the sticker price or ask them to fix it before you leave the lot.it sounds like the muffler or manifold.

for starters: Why buy a car make, which to many many people translates into this: ford= found on rubbish dump" the car you talk about has a major ?? over it: tyre noise, engine, gearbox noise (selector rings, spacers etc,) you would almost be sure you are buying somebodys past troubles! so look for another one!! safer bet Had a 351 4drive 6 cyl. after 1 year, broke down at an average 4 times just going to work over a 35 miles trip!! this fellow IS VERY BIASED TOWARDS FORD CARS had 3 co. cars also ford always broke down or fell apart!!

You didn't say how old or how much money you can spend.. I would want a 2005 or newer Focus because of the Mazda designed Duratec engine that is used. Also look for used Nissan Sentras and Mitsubishi Lancers.. Good little cars that sell used for a lot less than the Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla (Honda and Toyota being the best quality but you pay for it).

A Focus is a typical baseline compact car, they tend to have more roadnoise then a larger vehicle just like any other compact. Other then that the only big issues we see with the Focus is door latch problems. We live in a dusty area and the doors get hard to open, then you either remove, clean and lube the latches or install new ones.
