Amen! I find the negativity from both sides counter-productive.

I have read negative comments from all faiths as well as non-believers on here. I have been guilty of it myself a time or two. I am trying to be more positive for exactly the reasons you give in your question. I want people to know that what I believe is a positive thing and the only way to do that on this forum is to give answers with a positive tone. I think Religion is such a hot topic--people feel very strongly about it--so the Q and A's get pretty heated. Good luck in your search--Blessings.

I am VERY tired of the "Christian" idea that the well supported theory of evolution (about as well supported as the theory of gravity, altho both have details still to be sorted out) is the preserve of atheists. And now we have a professed agnostic who is buying into that nonsense!
Catholics (like me), Orthodox, mainstream Protestants, and many other Christians do NOT have the common Evangelical / fundamentalist belief that the Bible is inerrant--that is, we firmly believe that God created us and the rest of the world, but not that the Bible's folktales teaching this fact are literally true. So when we see overwhelming evidence that God used the intricate mechanisms of evolution to accomplish His creation, we have one more marvelous work and wonder of His to admire!
We believe that God reveals Himself thru human reason, including science, as well as revealed truth. And when we find apparent contradictions, we're motivated to look harder. His truth cannot be incompatible with itself.

As an agnostic, I'm here because religion interests me. It always has. I'm fascinated by what people can make themselves believe.
I also know a little bit about Buddhism and Taoism and am always happy to share my knowledge with those who have questions.
And hey, it's a marketplace of ideas. I have a way of looking at the world, just like everyone else does, and I like mixing it up once in a while.

Let's see...
If only Christians and people of other religions were in this forum. Do you really think any outsider could come here and not get biased answers?
That's just the way it always goes. When religion is challenged and they cannot back up their claims they get combative.
Either way you are basically stating you are in support of a one perspective view of things. You don't want any balance and you are not willing to let a person decide for themselves.
That's a bad quality to have.

They are rather aggressive. They justify it by pointing to fundie aggression, which is a very real problem but not as bad as the atheists claim, and in any event two wrongs do not make a right. Of course anyone with an interest in religion or spirituality is welcome, including atheists who share our concern (I'm a Catholic) with the political influence of the Bible Belt. But article 2 demands courtesy and both atheists and fundies are often to be found wanting. And yes, many are here to troll. A lot of their postings are trolling and should be deleted. A sincere question is one thing, merely being provacative or insulting is another.

I'm on a personal crusade to save my fellow man from the tyranny and death that has surrounded death cults like Christianity and Islam since their very inception.
I am here because I care about people. And that care extends to both the victims of these cults, and the people that are a part of them. Because they are both victims. And they both need help.
And they hate me for it, which is fine. I expect nothing less. As I used to be one of them, I completely understand why they behave the way they do, and why they hate people like me. But just like a drug counselor talking to an addict, I try to keep my personal feelings out of it when they lash out.
Most of the time, I succeed.

If you understand that this is an open forum, why are you even asking this? There's your answer right there. This is an open forum. Everyone with an opinion about religion -- whether it's positive or negative -- is welcome to post here. And you don't have to be religious to have something worthwhile to contribute to this subject.
And I'm not here to "push evolution" on anyone; I'm here for the same reasons as anyone else, which is expressing my opinion, defending my points, and discussing this subject.

Education. The religionist are clearly wrong if they deny evolution. Evolution is fact. We don't need to "push" it, its real and evident and has tons of evidence to support it. Religion and explanations such as women came from a man's (Adam's) rib need to be pushed because they are simply false. Education is the answer to ignorance. Be happy. Learn.

Don't let it upset you. I find great comfort in the knowledge that there will be no atheists in Heaven.
Actually there won't be any in Hell either. Don't get me wrong they are going to Hell, but it won't take but just a couple of short seconds of burning for them to re-evaluate their entire belief system. Of course by then it will be too late. They will be there for all of eternity to think about the reality of Hell.
All you can do is pray for them and spread the Word.
God bless and keep up the good fight.

I'm trying to not care, as it really doesn't matter in the end, but I love a good debate. And this is where all the christians gather.
