He has every reason to suspect you might. We define ourselves by our words and actions. You defined yourself as someone who cheats. When we do something wrong there are consequences. Sorry but these are the consequences for poor choices.

If you browse the answers people give here regarding cheating you will see many people say "Once a cheater always a cheater". I don't personally believe this but you have to prove it. It will take time for him to trust you and it's not at all unreasonable.

You know, once this trust thing intrudes into a relationship. It makes things detoriate slowly. You mate may be sitting with you eating something and somewhere at the back of his mind, he may be thinking of you.

It's like, your mate's mind is diving into two. One part says "He can trust you", the other suspects "He can't trust you".

This fight of his mind goes on and on, when he starts seeing things in real that support any of the side that his mind has taken, his idea starts tilting to that side.

You acts from now would decide his behavior and response. So, act wisely from now onwards.

If he has trust issues, you probably can't. He can choose to get some counseling or work his way through it, but odds are what you see is what you get. If you are not happy with it, you might be with the wrong guy. If you are unwilling to dump him, then wait it out, do your best to earn his trust by being 100% faithful, and see what happens. Odds are he'll never change, but you never know.

Can you blame him? You made a mistake. It will take about 5 years for him to develop that trust. Hang in there, don't wreck your probation.
