I've noticed that a lot of people asking questions involving atheists misspell atheist. What the hell is up with that?

No, it's not that difficult to spell. Poor spelling and punctuation seems to be a common theme around YA. Personally, it's hard to take someone seriously when they're trying to debate serious issues but can't spell or write a grammatically correct sentence. There's even a spell check!

Maybe because theist is pronounced differently to atheist. The atheist makes the ei sound like "e" instead of "a" but I'm not totally confident that that is the reason. Perhaps it is true, as creatrix suggests, that atheists are for some reason better spellers. If it were it would certainly result in atheist being spelt incorrectly more often as atheists use the word theist most often while everyone uses the word atheist.

Many of us are great spellers and others are not. I am a great speller, but a lousy typer and I often transponse letters like that. But, its ok, the main thing is that we let each other be what they are, and we grow and learn truth together Blasting others for their inadaquecies doesnt help.
WE all have areaas we are great at and areas we arent so good at. Its ok, we are human, and its ok. Lets accept those differences in each other. Now you can spell, but you needed to sware to communicate, That is not necessary. I would rather spell wrong and make typos than have so few words to communicate that only swaring will make my pont.
Hell is not a word used to desribe lik e you did. ITs a place to go to for those that arent followers of Jesus Christ. Just be sure you go to heaven, and you dont even know how to spell it to be there. AMen

The average person has an IQ within 1 standard deviation of 100. The human race is not a race of geniuses. I thank God for genetics and parents who read to me as a child.

I don't think of myself as particularly smart, but my IQ generally lands around 145. So, sometimes when talking to people I have to remind myself that I'm almost 50% smarter than average. I typically tested growing up in the 90th percentile on standardized tests, and skated through undergraduate school with a 3.5 average (drinking 4 nights a week!).

I in no way feel superior - I just think it's like athletes when they compete in backyard sporting events. They have to realize that most everyone is completely uncoordinated compared to them.

umm that word atheist is difficult because evrytime I write Athest i seem to mess up in my spelling, I think athisetmsm must create some sort of mind jamming mechanism to trigger in my head so that I do not accidentally possibly convert to Athsheism. ?? Also the letter sto the word Athmeism are all over the standatrd keyboard whch seems to help create typos. Sorry there is no disrespect meant to any of you Athieists.

Is it that serious? I see misspellings all the time, especially with the word "Christianity." It's no big deal. Perhaps you need to relax your meth...I mean, your mind.

Lol. I'm not an atheist, but the misspelling pisses me off too.

Maybe it is out of respect, they don't want to type theist when writing Atheist. Really Atheists should coin another name so they don't have to write theist every time they want to write their belief system.

I didn't think you believed in hell, and yet you say it.
You probably say Jesus or Christ every now and then too.
