I'm 3 months pregnant. I've had an 8cm cyst on my left ovary that my doctor's have been monitoring. I went to a specialist yesterday, and it's now 10cm. They are wanting to remove the cyst and the ovary within the next week and a half. They said they will have to cut from belly button down which is right where the baby is at. I'm a NERVOUS WRECK! I am going to have a specialist do it, but was curious has anyone had this happen or know anything about this?? Will the baby be ok? Especially with them opening my stomach completely up and being put under anesthesia? And removing my ovary...is this a major surgery-I'm literally scared to death and would like any advice anyone can give from experiences or knowledge. Thank you soo much!

my sister's ovarian cyst got bigger when she was pregnant too...it's from the hormones....but she didn't have it removed because it wasn't bothering her all that much....then after she had the baby the cyst went back down....i didn't know they could do that while you were pregnant but I'm sure everything will be okay....i'll say a prayer for you

I've had cysts removed via laparoscopy, no huge incision and local anesthetic, they did it that way because I was pregnant at the time. Frankly, I would flat refuse to let them do what they are suggesting, the risk to the child is greater than the risk of leaving the cyst alone in my opinion. At the very least, find and consult another ob-gyn specialist before going thru with such a drastic major surgery.

Calm down and be thankful for specialists. You will be monitored. You will probably have to stay a couple of days for you and the baby...My opinion about opening up and being under, you will be monitored. They know the risks and where exactly the baby is located. They will not disturb your bundle of joy...It is in an amniotic sac filled with its life sustaining fluid for now...I agree it is risky but the growth is growing which is lessening the area or room for the baby to grow.
The best thing is to deal with it sensibly and you have prayers.
