Someone with a college degree and some experience (about one year) may find it extremely difficult to find a decent job (especially in the field of science/engineering). Besides temp agencies that assign you to do office work, what other options are there for help in finding employment? Is there someone you can pay to help you put together your resume and then send it out and find work? Thanks.

Look online under "executive recruiters" Find one that works nationally and has a franchise in your area - Management Recruiters International comes to mind, they have branches everywhere. www.mrinetwork.com They are paid by an employer to fill jobs, so you should not be paying them a fee.

You can easily prepare your own resume - there are templates available in MS Word, or you can look under the "advice" sections of monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and/or hotjobs.com. You will have to supply all of the info to any service that you pay to put together a resume for you anyway, so you may as well take an extra step and do it yourself. Just make sure to run it through spellcheck when you're finished, ok?

Good luck!

Yeah you will want to seek out a headhunter, most times you just have to go to job fairs to apply directly to a good company. You should have a career couselor on your campus that can help you out. They are always contacted by companies directly to recruit from the campus. Your college shoud have a career site, you can check there. Just put your resume out there and know that agencies will look on the monster and careerbuilder boards a lot. Look at what career you are interested in and find out what associations are apffiliated with that line of work and go to their meetings and see what you have to do to get into a good company through a current professional. Good Luck.

Most of what you call "temp agencies" are more "employment agencies." I know my company and most of my competitors help people find full time and professional jobs, too.

I own a franchise of Express Personnel.
