I really don't think that there is an awful lot of difference, and it kinda depends on what food you are eating. For example, fish is better for you than red meat, but mackerel is cheaper than steak anyway!! Rice and pasta are also cheaper than chips (excuse the pun) and better for you!

Well I know it's not cheaper to eat healthy in the U.S. My guess is it's the same for the U.K.

In the short run it's definitely cheaper to eat unhealthy.

Long term, it's difficult to put a monetary value on quality of life issues. You should figure in the health costs, like for heart disease, diabetes and metabolic syndrome, degenertive joint disease and other conditions more common in overweight individuals. OK, so in the UK health care is largely paid by your government. But you all pay for it collectively through your taxes.

fresh fruit and veg is always cheap at my local greengrocer . its all good stuff but doesn't have the fancy "organic" label which i think is just a way of getting you to spend more. at my local aldi I get really big bags of frozen akaskan pollock which tastes and looks just as good as cod for about £2 . when i dont feel like cookin I can get aready cooked chicken from my my local summerfield for less than £3.. a bit of crusty bread ..a bit of ready made salad ( bottle of tesco australian plonk for about £2.50)what could be nicer ? so yeah you can do it cheap and healthy

I would say it is cheaper, as long as you do not shop in supermarkets. Try local farmers and grow your own if you can. Drink water and eat non branded goods.
