theory"?
Why are there still so many Christians who behave like they shouldn't have graduated high school and keep saying that we came from monkeys when science DOESN'T say that?
Why do they keep doing it even after they've been told the facts over and over and over again?
Is it willful denial because it doesn't fit into their comfortable little box?

malak, no Atheists say that the Big Bang is proven fact. They say that its a hypothesis, which is what it is. They say evolution is fact, which it also is.

san b... let me ask you this... when you've been put down, often violently in terrible ways, how would you feel about your oppressor and slave driver hmm? Would you be angry and afraid? Or would you just accept it like a good little slave?
You try being in an Atheists place for the last 2000 years and see how you would feel.

Tek, that was quite an accomplishment. In one paragraph, you claim to realize that science says we came from a common ancestor. The in the next paragraph, you claim that science says we came from apes. So which is it? Do you think we came from apes or do you realize that we have a common ancestor with apes? You can't have it both ways hon.
Because you're right, we didn't come from apes. And science doesn't claim we did. Not once. So why keep making the ridiculously idiotic assertion of "I didn't come from apes" unless you believe that science says we did?
Think about it. You have a logic problem.

The main answer to your questions is because Christians breed. They raise little Christians ans send them to Christian private schools in which the poor kids are taught all kinds of non-scientific nonsense. They don't learn the difference between theory and scientific theory, they are told: look at those stupid godless scientific atheist people who are going to hell and who tell us we are descended from monkeys (even though science doesn't say that) they keep repeating this fairy tale because they think it makes us look stupid and makes them look right, they do it over and over again because of "herd" mentality and being brainwashed into thinking that they will go to hell if they don't follow the party line, and it is either willful denial (for anyone who is wise enough to know better but is afraid to say so openly for fear of their preacher might say) or total ignorance, for the ones who genuinely do not know any better and have never thought to look outside the comfortable little box because reality is scary and questioning their beliefs means they will go to hell, do not pass go and do not collect salvation.
good questions. Some of them will beak away from the idiocy, most I fear will not, but either way, I would rather be working in my garden than worrying about setting them straight. It's a lost cause.
Ciao, Bella!
Bright blessings!

evolution is a lot of hypothesis mixed with some evidence. I can believe some of it but don't believe all of it. I wouldn't recommend believing all you hear either. Instead become one who investigates it. But then again most people when they investigate have an objective that often clouds their view. This also can cloud scientist conclusions and leads them to conclude things that are only possible but not necessarily so. However there is something to it. For example Bacteria can become super bugs by adapting. People have adapted to very high climates. But do you think that explains where life came from? More than likely not. As a christian however I have also considered that God make create on a method similar to that. For instance if he tweaked Genes in certain creatures on purpose how would we know. We would think it just happened. It might drastically increase the chances of life on earth compared to it just randomly happening. Also in the Bible in Genesis either chapter 2 or 6 it talks about God creating the animals. Its says he created them after their likeness and after their kind. Who are they? Were they creatures that preceded the set that came later. Anyways I don't presume to know all the facts and I don't believe anyone else who thinks they know all the facts either. Everything needs to be taken and measured respectively.

LOL. And atheists keep saying over and over again that Christianity is a religion or a cult, when it is not. Christianity is a relationship with God.
I might have said that too, but I do not certainly mean that a monkey gave a birth to a human. LOL.
Sorry, if I am in a little box, it sure is very comfortable. I think you guys are in a little box. Science is not the only way of knowing.

No.
Christians are not willfully in denial. They have been trained by their faith to accept certain things without question as a mark of holiness and candidacy for heaven, and so they are tone deaf to anything else.
This means that unless and until the rewards and validation they get for living outside reality get outweighed by the rewards of using knowledge and rational thought, they will continue to parrot what they've been told to believe.

I know Evolutionary Theorists surmize that all apes have descended from a root progenitor ape species.
I don't care what you want to call it. My ancestors weren't apes.
If you keep calling it science, you only reveal that you have never actually read the evidence. There never has, and never will be a link from apes to humans.
Science is the observation of fact; scientific theory has to be proven. Since the days of Louis Pasteur, it has never been demonstrated that life can spontaneously generate. Anyone who misses that, is not dealing with scientific theory, but rather with science fiction.
Because of those who call science fiction "science", I will continue to tell you that I didn't descend from a "monkey". It's called illustrating absurdity with the absurd.

Humans are classified as "apes" by biologists. According to the definition, we ARE apes. I don't know why people want to think that somehow humans are disconnected from the rest of the living world. Biologically, there is absolutely nothing unique about humans.
I have never seen any "upper echelon bullies" going into labs and silencing scientists who dispute "evolution dogma". That is TOTAL crap.
Anyone, please feel free to email me if you want to talk about how evolution is being studied. It is now to the point where it is taken for granted in research because of its universal explanatory power (Nothing in biology makes sense, except in light of evolution).

Dont you wish you could reach through your monitor and slap some sense into half of these morons?
"I know the difference, and thats why its called a THEORY." That deserves a slap.
"If we came from monkeys, why are there monkeys still on earth?" That deserves a rabbit punch in the breadbasket!
TEK seems the most intelligent of all fundie responders - TEK, please go read about the Urey-Miller experiements, in which amino acids were "created" in a lab setting spontaneously.

Intellectual bullying by the elite of the upper echelons of academia. The scientific establishment which has spent over 100 years defending the theory of evolution would be reduced to an embarrassment in the eyes of the public if they backed off their pet theory. As they want their way of thinking about reality to prevail in society, and as a protection of their job security, they bully into silence scientists who have the mettle to challenge evolutionary biology. By the same method they infuse their ideas into the popular mind, bullying even Christians who would be otherwise disposed to view the available evidence in light of what God has already revealed.
I used to be agnostic, by the way.

They* don't want evolution to be true, so they deliberately hang on to a completely incorrect understanding of the subject. The LAST thing they want is to have a clear understanding of the difference between theory in everyday usage and theory in a scientific context. They don't want to clear up their confusion; they WANT to be confused. That way, they can justify dismissing the whole concept.

hi there
If we came from monkeys then how come there are still monkeys on the earth ?
Science is observance and theory and denies anything supernatural therefore evolution is an 'alternate' answer to why we exist.
I prefer the blessed knowledge that we were Created by a loving God for His pleasure.
I stick by Creationism and cannot change that. I've researched both sides and know I belong to God. My but it's comforting to know I am not a mistake.
Ciao
