My "brother" passed away in 2003 after returning from Iraq in a motorcycle accident. My family is pretty much your ultimate USMC family...mom was a Coastie though. Each side has a pretty lengthy military service. Now..I want to get a nice back piece for him but, then I'm torn with the idea of doing a full back piece to honor the entire family.

For him : His ribbons/medals, badges and just have it surrounded in writing "in love memory, etc"

OR, having something like this done...tons of work, I know. Just change up the uniforms and toss in a few branches.

Your opinions?

I like your first idea best, the pic is just too much. If you want to honor your brother (bless his soul) than go with just the first idea, I think it sounds absolutely awesome.

Sorry for your loss... I lost a brother three years ago, so I feel your pain. (((hugs)))

My brother also passed away in 2003. I have a memorial tattoo on my back. I have a Bald Eagle holding a banner with his name written on it. The writing I had done was in my sons writing. I think that the whole back is too much. But it is up to you

I like both ideas, it's really up to you. Maybe you could use one of the figures as a representation of your brother and still use the "in loving memory". You can also take your ideas to a tat artist and see what he/she can suggest. Best of wishes.

a rose with his name would be pretty. you could use his favorite color for the rose. have a ribbon around the stem with his name, date of birth and date of death. i am sorry to hear of his passing. i know it was hard. my cousin came home from vietnam, moved to florida and became a paramedic. he was killed when some idiot side swipped the ambulance in 1976. they risk their lives in war, come home, and we still loose them. my cross tattoo on my back has 3 roses. one for him, one for a friend who was like my father and one for another cousin who passed from c.o.p.d
