Or doesn't believe? Why can't people just respect each other's decision to believe or not believe how they choose to do so without insulting or talking down to one another or mocking their beliefs?

I agree and have asked the same thing. I do not seriously see how intelligence can be based on a person's personal belief system.
Our brain power does not shrink with a belief in a certain thing.
I also find it hard to believe that there are so many people who has so little respect for others. You see it so often in here that it's truly sad and I find myself coming here less and less.
I like a good debate, or intelligent question, but some of it around here is such drivel.

There is no need, however there should always be inquires and one shouldn't feel insulted with questions. If one has a belief one should be able to defend it with reasonable words with no insult or harsh words spoken to hurt. We should also approach, such, shall we say - debate, with an open mind. No one knows everything and there is always something to be learnered from our fellow human beings and who knows they just might be inspired of God(?), One never knows! \

By the way, Humor is allowed!

Well, it gets complicated when one group of people wants to tell everyone else how to act/believe. (And even worse when all the groups try to tell eachother how to act/believe.) There's a lot of name-calling and ad hominem attacks, etc. Debate skills go down the drain on subjects that people have a personal, vested interest in.

Basically, people can't accept that their beliefs might be wrong for someone. If their beliefs are wrong for someone, then they aren't absolutely right, are they? But in order for them to be absolutely right, we'd all have to be the same inside, and we aren't.

Because in their inner self they do not have anything intelligent to offer or are ignorant of proper information or in its delivery thereof therefore they go to specious arguments or below the belt antics to persuadr their side or try to unnerve the other person from not engaging in meaningful dialogue and results.

Christians are not evil wackos just because they have delusions of a god. They are only evil wackos when they try to pass laws forcing decent people to deal with their delusions.

I've never been good at candy coating my opinions. I try not to insult, but some questions just beg for it.
