That cross happens to be the avatar of the person with the most "Best Answers" in the section. YA did not choose it, the user did. If you want a different symbol, just beat their "Best Answer" score.

The cross at the top of the page is Imacatholic2's avatar, and it's there because that user is the top contributor to the section. It isn't the section's symbol, sections don't have symbols.
