It's his choice. You cant force your beliefs on him. You cant force him to go to church either. Back off.

The best way to honor the commandments and your father is to listen, listen with an open mind and ask questions that give you more information.
You should try to form in your mind a picture of how his thought processes work and why his views makes sense to him. Do your best to empathize and see things from his viewpoint.
Only then will you be able to communicate with him effectively. You may find at that point that there is no point in trying to change his mind, or you may find that you can share whatever you have found with him.
I am not religious, and I think that churchoing is for the churchgoers only, just as any other club or organization, and does not have any special supernatural purpose to it, but if you want to chnage someone's mind about anything you need to fully understand why the believe the things they do. Often you will be surprised by their wisdom.

Your life may be the only Bible some folks will ever read...
Live your life in a way that will make him want to have the peace you have. Share Bible verses that you like with him. Let him see Jesus in you. A well lived life, is a better wittness than all the preaching you could do.

Nobody ever said you had to sit in a church to have a relationship with God. You can keep it in your heart just as effectively. Dont try so hard to control people and make them fit your image. We're all different for a reason.

I feel sorry for you and your dad.. Church is not a god magnet place.. and pastors are not holy but they act well like holy..... you must do your education well..
try to learn evolution for a start..
watch good documentary channels..
your children will be grateful for you if you can change soon.

Your dad probably knows enough about Christ since he went to Church all the time when he was younger.
Obviously, he wasn't impressed.

Like a lot of people as they get older, they see sense and realize that religion is dangerous, controlling nonsense.
Don't make the poor guy go through that again, he'd rather go to the bar, like me.

Leave him alone. He's a grown up and can decide these things for himself. Get a dog if you want to control something.
