the definition of truth is: the true or actual state of a matter.

there is no truth in god (or any religion for that matter) it is only faith, whose definition is: belief that is not based on proof

the 2 words have very different meanings.

the truth is, that nobody will know the truth until we die, and if atheists are right, then nobody will ever know the truth because once you're dead, you're dead and you won't "know" anything lol

SO CAN ALL PEOPLE OF RELIGION ADMIT THAT THEY ONLY HAVE FAITH, AND NOT TRUTH?

when you say you have truth, you are lying intentionally and therefore sinning (if you're christian) and will go to hell.

i hope this question will help spare some christians from going to hell.

Human reason is the spark of the divine within us. It is our capacity to know the truth of things.

One thing that make us human is our ability to think our way through to convictions (or strong beliefs). So reason and faith cannot be in conflict.

True faith
+ Is reasonable faith
+ Makes sense
+ Can be proposed as reasonable to others

With love in Christ.

I can understand frustration to hearing "you're going to hell" or other such "truth" from a religious body. I grew up in the home of a minister. As such, like most preacher kids... i'm not a Christian anymore.

However, I'm reluctant to say that they don't have truth. there's an old adage "What's true for you, is true, for you."

In easthen philosophy, everything is an illusion, except for true reality, which only the enlightened see.

If I were to say to someone "What is truth?" and they say "what i can prove." and I say "how can you prove something?" and they say "by experiencing it" then that's the same reasoning the Christian will give you ... they have "experienced God." They go to church and "feel" God, or "hear" God, or "experience the presence of God."

But if the answer to my question of "what is truth?" returns to "what I can prove with a measuring device" then I'd suggest, that is equally illusionary. How do you know? You are part of a universe, and in this universe, you created a device to measure something, and thus you can measure it, it is real. So any item not measurable is not true?

Can one measure love compassion with a device? Then are these and other emotions aspects of "faith" and not "truth?" If someone claims to have a method of measuring emotion, then what of conceptual things, like "freedom." is freedom not a truth, but a faith based item, because it has no measurable substance?

What if, two people die, and one is a Christian who believes in hell and heaven, based on Jesus... and the other is a Muslim who doesn't believe in Jesus... what if they both go to where they believe they deserve to be after death, due to their beleifs? What if their ending reality isn't a universal reality, but a truth for them alone. Not a faith, but a personal truth.

I'm not sure I even believe that... but i'm reluctant to dismiss someone's truth.... because doing so would tell me so many more things (especially the conceptual things) would also be dismissed as being "true."

This is a falsehood:"when you say you have truth, you are lying intentionally and therefore sinning (if you're christian) and will go to hell." believing something to be true and saying it is true, is never a lie its only a lie if you KNOW what you say is wrong. Anything anyone believes to be true IS true, even if only to them. Just like you saying "there is no truth in god" you dont KNOW that, but you do believe it. If there IS truth in God, are you then a liar and hellbound hmmmm? It is true that none of us (even you) can KNOW the answer but that doesnt mean we cannot believe something is true... and.. it MIGHT very well be.

Only when a person knows something is true, or false... and DENIES it intentionally, is it a lie.

It is obvious you know very little about the Christian faith. First off we go to heaven by grace, not by works. We as Christians have all our sins forgiven through Jesus Christ, so we are saved from hell and not be judged on the Last Day. However, those who do not have Christ will be judged and they will be judged guilty. So we get to heaven by what God has done, not what we have done. Now for the truth thing. You say there is no truth in Christianity or any religion, and that truth can only be known after we die. Is that a true statement? If you say yes you are contradicting your own logic. Truth can be known, if you are willing to embrace it, however if you do not want to accept it you won't, and remember, you can refuse the truth as much as you want, that does not change it. There is truth in Christianity, I can see it in my walk with Christ, other's walk with Christ, and by the Holy Spirit who ministers to me. These are only a few examples. As for your last statement you contradict yourself by saying Christians go to hell, because here you are implying it is true that liars go to hell, but earlier you say no one can know until they die. Which is it? You are right liars will go to hell, infact the soul who sins will die. Have you ever lied, if you say no, you are lying. Jesus Christ is the only way to be cleansed from sin, this I can say with much confidence. God bless.

When you search for something you can uncover the truth. THe implication is that you study the Bible in search of God and the truth of what is inside will set you free from your servitude to Sin.

Also just because you sin does not mean you are going to Hell. The only thing that sends you to Hell is the rejection of God in favor of something else a sign of which is sin. When a Christian accepts Christ they are freed from the stain of sin and it no longer has a hold on them.

The Bible says that Jesus is the truth. So when we refer that we have found the truth, we are talking about the person.

I can see that you do not have the slightest idea what is the relationship with God like. You think that because we are sinning we go to hell? You go to hell only if you do not accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Of course you can deny Jesus' deity because you do not have a personal relationship, and since you do not have it you do not believe that the Bible is true.

You do not spare any Christians from going to hell, God does. Our salvation is by grace and mercy of God. You want to do good when you accept Jesus as your Savior, but it is not our deeds, or works, or our sinless performance that gets us to heaven.

They do it because Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life." Or at least some writer put those words in his mouth. They all think they have a monopoly on all religious truths because of that, and they cause the rest of us no small amount of grief.

And don't forget the old classic ... the Bible is true because the Bible says it is.

Faith is not "belief that is not based on proof"

If you say, "I have faith in you", that is because you know the person and have found their word trustworthy. If you trust them, you have faith in them. You do not have faith in strangers because you have not built up any experience of trust. In the same way you are only willing to have faith in God when His word has stayed true. You do not just toss your hands up and say you'll believe him......... You build up an experience of trust in his Providence and thus are willing to have faith in him to fulfill other promises.

you take an awful long time to tell everyone they are stupid when in fact you have no clue to life at all. The truth is I find you to be an ignorant person because you do not know how to accept His truth

good point, I suppose that to me it is the truth b/c I have so much faith in it...I think when you believe something to a certian extent, you really think it is the technical definition of "truth" but if you want to go to ole webster, I suppose its not really fact, and your right, noone really knows one way or the other....I guess I'll just have faith that what I am believing ends up being truth!
