My husband proposed to me on my birthday. He took me to a cafe where we had had our first date and when we got into the car he gave me this gift bag with my birthday present and a letter. The letter was what made it so perfect; he wrote things in it about us and things we had been through that had slipped my mind-and im the sort who remembers these things!! and at the end he wrote that we had been strong thru everything and i had been his best friend through it all so this is what was giving him the courage to do what he was going to do. And he was holding my hand and he slipped the ring onto my finger and said i know i didnt ask and u havent answered but this is how its going to be
so my point is find something special to the to of you..and let her know exactly how much she means..the letter is how my husband because most guys are not that eloquent when it comes to a high pressure situation :)
GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!

Do a search - this question is asked multiple times daily and you'll find a lot of answers!
You should give some more information about your gf. What's romantic to me may not necessarily be romantic to her. I'd love for my bf to propose during a weekend away (just the two of us) at my family's cabin on a lake. There's a bonfire pit by the water and a proposal by the fire in the evening would be so amazing!
But, I know lots of girls who would hate that. I wouldn't like anything with other people around (strangers, friends, family) but some girls think that's the best idea ever. Is your gf outgoing or shy? Does she like attention? Is she earthy or trendy? Things like this make a big difference.
Talk to her best friend! She'll probably know if your gf has a certain way she'd want to be proposed to.

For myself, I personally hate the idea of public proposals. I really think a proposal should be private. Just the couple. "Will You Marry Me," is the the four most life changing words in the English language. Not saying the girl is going to say no, b/c most likely she will always say Yes. I just think it should be done away from the crowd. That way the couple has the moment just to themselves and not to everyone else watching all around.
Therefore, just find a place that is important to you and your girlfriend. Set up a nice dinner if it's in a room at a private restaurant, or champagne and strawberries if it's on the beach. Do something that she's remember, but is understated and private.

OMG you are such a sweet guy! This question gave me goosebumps cause I myself am planning on getting engaged soon and have no clue when he's going to ask BUT about YOU lol the question here is does your girlfriend like a lot of attention or more personal private type of activity? If attention then def do it in a crowd of people so you will get an amazing response around you and your girl will feel like she is getting a lot of attention (i'm an attention getter so this ideal) but if more private then maybe near a beach, or while watching the fireworks on 4th of July!!!!! Gosh I hope I helped there are so many great ways to do it. It's hard to tell you though cause I don't know her likes or dislikes.... but I am SURE you will do just fine and have a great creative way to do it! Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! :)

My fiance took me out to a coffee shop to celebrate our anniversary. We were sitting at the table drinking our coffee and chatting and there was some background music. After we had been there for a little while, I noticed that our song began playing in the background. It's not a song that most people know, so it instantly caught my attention. He had brought the CD to the coffee shop earlier that day and arranged for them to play it while we were there. Then he got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his pocket, and asked if I would marry him.
It was so sweet and romantic! I loved telling all of my friends the story about it!

I think the most romantic proposals are at a restaurant! Get down on your knee and do it the traditional way! But if your looking for something different then maybe proposing by a nice view like the ocean or by a nice river!!!!

the most memorable thing you can do it make it personal her her. if she likes art, go to an art museum. if she's into music, go to a concert. if she never does anything without a certain friend, get that friend involved.
I am not a fan of big crowds, so my husband proposed to me at home one night while we were watching my favorite movie. it doesn't have to be showy to be memorable, it just need to fit her taste and personality.

Go to your favorite romantic spot, wherever it is. You know - the place where you both realized how much in love you are with each other.
Look deeply into her eyes. Smile - a little boy smile - pull out the ring and ask her to marry you.

I proposed by making a slide show DVD. I had some nice slow songs playing in the background. It started by saying, 'The beginning...' then showed pictures of us when we were babies and when we were kids up to about high school, then it said, 'The present...' and it showed most of our pictures together. then it said 'The Future...How about marriage?' then I got down on my knee and asked her.

I found this on the internet and I thought it was sweet:
This girl came home to hersey's kisses leading the way to the bathroom. (Yes, the bathroom) The shower was filled with roses. A note attached to a ring box said "if i kissed the ground you walked on and showered you with roses would you marry me?"
SWEET!
