We closed off the center aisle at our wedding and it wasn't a problem. We were also able to block off other sections in the church so the guests were all seated in the same place. We did this because we had a white runner down the aisle and flower petals and didnt want 200 other people to mess it up!
Talk to your florist. She did ours and decorated it with bows and white orchids. It was beautiful! She drapped tulle down the pews and skipped ever two so it looked great. We did the other rows though and I basically went to Walmart and bought the roll of 6" wide tulle (60 yards) and blocked off the other sections. You will need to double it up though because it is not that "full" Then some of my friends made bows with the leftover tulle and put them on the sides so it looked more decorative. I probably should have tried to get a wider roll of tulle, but that was the least of my worries at the time.
If your florist won't do it, then here is what you do. Buy tulle in a roll. As i said before Walmart has them in 60 yard rolls, but they are only 6" wide, so to get a full look you will need to double or triple up the tulle. Have a friend help. Roll out the tulle on the floor so it is the entire length of the pews and goes a couple feet beyond at each end. You can cut off the remainder later. Remember, don't block off the first 2 or 3 rows for the grandmothers and mothers. Use either pins (for fabric pews) or white duct tape (wooden pews) to attach the tulle to the pew. Try to make all the gracefull draping arches look the same as you go from one pew to the next. You will probably want to skip a few pews so you get longer and prettier arches. Then you can either make a bow of the tulle, or buy some and attach it over where the tulle is attached to the pew (to cover the duct tape and pins!) I would also reccomend putting bows on the pews that are inbetween. You can also buy some white ribbon or colored ribbon in your wedding colors and drape it along the pews with the tulle to add some substance and flair. Then cut the ends so they hang from the pew height just above the floor. You can make bows with the scraps if you'd like.
Hope that helps!

I am with abfamom1 regarding how you are going to close of the rows on the main aisle. I am afraid that will cause a lot of congestion when it comes to seating guests, especially for the older folks.
You could still hang bows made of tulle, on each pew and maybe have the florist attach a little floral arrangement to teh pews that are seating family (Mom and Dad, grandparents). Or if you like you could make a little arrangement, It could also be as simple as a single flower...such as a rose and maybe tie the bow to the stem?

You can order tulle by the bolt at fabric stores. I think they usually come in 20 yd bolts.
This is a gorgeous look, but remember that this will mean you will have to seat guests from the outside aisles, so plan ahead for this. Also, leave the first few pews without tulle to seat family from the center aisle.

A more important question will be how much length will you need. Most fabrics come in standard widths. When you purchase it, look at how it looks with the standard with draped, and if you think it's too much, try cutting it in half lengthwise.
I have always thought that closing off the rows of seats for access from the aisle was an odd thing...most of the weddings I have been to have had the main access to the seats through the center, as opposed to around the sides. My opinion, for whatever that's worth!

You can use any width. the wider the tulle the fuller your swag will be.
I would skip the tulle though. For me it just looks dated more than pretty and gentle, but if you really love tulle then go for it.

It all depends on how far apart your pews are. As long as you do each one the same length it should look great!
