Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith . . . not by works.
HOW MANY HERE, ARE TAUGHT WRONG?

we're not saved, by good "LOVE WORKS" we're saved by confessing HIS TRUTH over our lives..as well witnessing this truth..that JESUS death and resurection has saved us all..that is FAITH spoken..and standing on it..So with the same measure of FAITH here..is how one get 'healed, delivered, and prosperous" for HIS GLORY..for it not by our might..nor by our will power..but by His SPIRIT..we are saved..healed..blessed..resurrected adn seated right now..in heaven..spiritually speaking "IN CHRIST" as yet..we are bodily here on earth..is there an amen?

to them disagree...then so with manners..like american has.

First of all, let me make it clear from the start, I do not consider myself one of the Christian Faith.

However, i love theology and studying faiths of all beliefs, and i have a slightly different take on this. I do believe that in the Bible, it says a man is saved by his acts...to me it was explained that it is not by the acts done by a person so that others may see, it is by the way one lives their life, not just for the sake of others, but on a day to day basis, all of their lives. The personal act of Faith, and living in a righteous manner according to God, by not wavering from that faith, even though other people tend to try and drag you down or change your thoughts, you maintain your faith and beliefs, act on them accordingly, and be grateful not only for the good times , but for the bad as well....Look @ Job.....

Just a thought from a humble pagan
May Love and Blessings Abound

Blessed Be

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works is dead, being alone. (19)Thou believest, that there is one God, thou doest well: the devils also believe and tremble. (20) But wilt thou know o vain man that faith without works is dead? (24) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith alone?

Sorta blows a hole in your theory huh? Take every scripture in context.

You are correct in that we are saved by faith rather than works. Your story does not go far enough, faith begets works.
Works are to be the evidence of our faith. This very chapter goes on to say:

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus,UNTO GOOD WORKS, which God hath before ordained that--------we should walk in them.

to many Churches teach that it is "works" that save you, they forget to teach the rest the text that you MUST have faith as well. Look at Abraham, when his son (who is a fore runner of Jesus)asked where the scarifies was Abraham said God WILL provide that!!! He had faith that he would NOT have to kill his only son!!!!!!!!!!!

We are saved by transferring our trust to Christ who died to pay for our sins.

And a comment to Ross above. Our works demonstrate our faith. They do not save us.

So people who dedicate their lives to helping the poor, the sick, etc, are damned if they don't go to church? "judge not, lest ye be judged." Luke 6:37.

Perfection of Grace

Our Priorities for 2007

Know his will
Be available to do His will
Make decision to do what He shows, without human constraint or manipulation
Do as He says BECAUSE He said it
Be anointed to accomplish all His will

Phil 3:1-11 (The Message) "And that's about it, friends. Be glad in God! I don't mind repeating what I have written in earlier letters, and I hope you don't mind hearing it again. Better safe than sorry — so here goes. 2 Steer clear of the barking dogs, those religious busybodies, all bark and no bite. All they're interested in is appearances — knife-happy circumcisers, I call them. 3 The real believers are the ones the Spirit of God leads to work away at this ministry, filling the air with Christ's praise as we do it. We couldn't carry this off by our own efforts, and we know it — 4 even though we can list what many might think are impressive credentials. You know my pedigree: 5 a legitimate birth, circumcised on the eighth day; an Israelite from the elite tribe of Benjamin; a strict and devout adherent to God's law; 6 a fiery defender of the purity of my religion, even to the point of persecuting Christians; a meticulous observer of everything set down in God's law Book. 7 The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I'm tearing up and throwing out with the trash — along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. 8 Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant — dog dung. I've dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ 9 and be embraced by him. I didn't want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ — God's righteousness. 10 I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. 11 If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it."

Paul is preparing to end this letter
He gives them a warning regarding a group called "Judiaizers"
There were those who confessed Christ, yet insisted that the keeping of Jewish law was necessary for salvation
These could actually be among those who were looking to make Paul's imprisonment worse
They insisted that to be saved, you had to be circumcised—and keep the Law (Jesus + Works = Salvation)

Paul was not anti-Jewish tradition (Acts 18:18; Acts 21:23 -24)
Paul's objection came when one look to the outward observances of the Law as a means of salvation
Just as one could look to any religious system and think it justified him (church, denomination, liturgy)

True People of God Defined-- Philippians 3:3
Worship is a spiritual function of the heart, not the outward observance of religious activities (John 4:23-24)
Our rejoicing is in Christ and what He has accomplished on the cross
Our confidence Is not remotely in our flesh
We are not relying on our successes to make us right before God
Paul abandoned all claims to self-righteousness

Paul's Pedigree (3:5-6)

Circumcised on the 8th day—Observed Jewish Law from birth—not a convert

From the Nation of Israel—God's covenant people
Tribe of Benjamin—Israel's first King; remained loyal to David
Hebrew of Hebrews—seriously followed it's traditions—knew language and customs
A Pharisee—the teacher and enforcer of the Law
Zealous—Sought to destroy what he thought was a false religion
Absolute follower of every nuance of the Law—no one could accuse him of anything

Paul no longer looks to any of this (Philippians 3:7-8)

He has given up all claims to self righteousness
All these great deeds, mean nothing now
It is not what we have done for Him
It is what He has done for us
Paul consider all in the past "rubbish"
Many translations call this, rubbish, trash, etc
The word means more than that
"Rubbish" what is thrown to the dogs, refuse
Amplified (refuse, dregs)
The Message –"dog dung"
Darby—"Filth"
KJV—"dung"

To hold onto this is not only "untidy"
It is a health hazard
It will infect and poison
Religion as the basis of righteousness will infect and make ill

Philippians 3:9 "and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith…"

"In Him" means our position before God
He often uses this phrase to describe our relationship
When God looks upon us, He sees us hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:1-3)

We are found in Him—

1. Not having our own righteousness by keeping the Law

2. But righteous through faith in Christ

3. Righteousness as a gift from God (Imputed)

Results of having Imputed Righteousness (Philippians 3:10-11)

1. Know Him in the power of His resurrection (new birth)

2. Know Him in His sufferings (Chap 1)

3. Know Him in the willing sacrifice of our lives to Him (Chap 2)

Final Warnings (Phil 3:17-21)

· Enemies of the Cross (3:18)

Not enemies of Jesus—they like Him
It's the cross they shun (1 Cor 1:17-18; Gal 5:11; Col 1:20)

"follow my example" Phil 3:17

Trusting in anything apart from Christ for salvation is an offense to religious people
Trusting in self will cause a person to come under condemnation
Trusting in self will always make us wonder if we are good enough

Hymn—Isaac Watts

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

What are you trusting

Is your salvation the cross + your works?

Galatians 2:20-21 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."

Salvation is by faith alone
