Well the purple line end at Wilshire and Western now...You could run from there somewhere between Pico and Olympic to Mar Vista and Santa Monica...The City of Beverly Hlls doesn't need to be involved, since it's southern boundry is Wilshire..

Doesn't this just about drive you completely nuts! When i lived in Mar Vista many years ago I will never forget the money they spent ripping out the rails that ran along Venice Blvd.

P.S. Obvi we all remember the fire in Fairfax. Is there a way to get the city moving on rapid transit either above or below ground? They did it before. They can do it again. And beside Obvi if they can build a tunnel under the English Channnel they can do it here.

Actually, yes.

One of the big problems is the geography of the area. One reason it's difficult to run a subway along Wilshire Blvd is that there's tar, gas, and sand under the ground there. Ever hear of the La Brea Tar Pits? Ever try to dig a tunnel in tarry sand? If you've ever tried to dig a tunnel at the beach, you know what I'm talking about: Once you reach a certain point, the sand is too wet to stay together, and it just falls into the hole you dug. It's like that around Wilshire Between La Brea and Fairfax. Perhaps you don't remember, but about 25 years ago, a gas pocket formed in the Ross department store at the Town & Country shopping Center (near the tar pits). There was a huge explosion, fire coming up from the sidewalk, the whole nine yards. Fortunately, it was just after closing time, so nobody was killed. It would sure be a bummer it that happened on a subway during rush hour.

It's going to take a lot of digging, probing, and analysis to pull it off. I say, take your time, do it right, and maybe my kids or grandkids can take the subway to the beach.

Part of the 3.7 million is to give some of the local politicians a thumbectomy... If they could only get their thumbs out of their behinds, we might get something done.

Well if you want a subway down Wilshire then YES there needs to be a feasibility study to determine where it's routing should go, construction methods, any possible environmental mitigation, and basically a whole array of different things that need to be looked at before the public pours $4+ billion dollars into the ground.

And BEverly Hills certaintly needs to be apart of this as many people commute to that area for jobs. And Beverly Hills WANTS A SUBWAY stop this time around, so that whole rich snobs, lets hate BH argument really has no validity.

No, it's just a bunch of Beverly Hills and other rich snobs that "Don't want THOSE kind of people coming here."

The 'Fires and explosion, tar pit" excuses is a bunch of lies. Hey, Mexico City is just a filled in lake with lots of earthquakes, yet their subway moves 3 MILLION people a day. Are we saying we can't build a subway as good as the Mexicans?

The rich snobs, and can put political pressure on things. So they want all the poor kids in Riverside (down wind form Los Angeles) to suffer with Asthma, because they don't want to let people ride the subway, because they don't want to mix with the poor.

It would be so great to connect Century City (where many Law offices are, with the downtown courthouses).

Plus, I think the MTA has wasted so much money, they are running out. (Can someone say corruption?)

Still, I hope that the subway would be expanded. It would be a good thing for everybody.
