Im not a creationist per se, but the difference is that "scientific" requires empirical analysis. Like for example, "grass is green because of the lepricorns running around and painting it that way". What lepricorns? Where do they come from? What kind of paint do they use? And how they paint the grass? Thats the scientific way. Non-scientific is probably like based on belives, like "grass is green because god made it so"

A theory is an idea that is undergoing testing to try and prove its validity while a scientific theory is something that while not proven beyond all doubt is accepted enough to be used as a general rule in scientific thought, but if new evidence arises to disprove the theory it will either be adapted or discarded just the same as a regular theory.

"Scientists tell us they can trace the beginning of the universe back to the first microsecond. They trace time back to an initial explosion we have come to know as the "Big Bang" that caused the universe we now experience. According to this theory the universe started from "singularity" (an immensely dense state) and the universe then exploded out of this. This is the theory used to account for the origins of the universe by atheists and/or evolutionists, and is of course backed up by science. So does the Big Bang theory backed by science remove god from the equation?
Let's go back to my first sentence and how science traces time back to the first microsecond of history. The problem is that they can't account for what happened before, or when there was no universe or nothing! In other words the Big Bang theory doesn't tell us anything about the initial "cause" of the universe or where it came from, just how it happened. In fairness to the Big Bang Theory, it doesn't make any claims as to what happened before singularity. Mainstream science simply says they don't know what initially caused the universe or how singularity came to be.
So regarding the problem of the origin of the universe, this doesn't tell us anything. It doesn't explain how something initially came out of nothing. If the universe is finite as this option holds to, then there would have been absolutely nothing and then there would have been something which then exploded into the universe. So "something" had to come from "nothing" if we say god did not cause the Big Bang. But this goes against the laws of science. Science says that "energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can change its form". So if energy cannot be created but only change its form, then how could something initially come from nothing? The answer is it can't happen unless you break the laws of science!"
I would like to go even further and suggest that the singularity IS GOD.

You don't need a creationist or some Hi Fi person for it.A theory is a stamen t of possibility under specified assumptions.A scientific theory is also a theory but can not only be replicated but also demonstrated any where, under given set of conditions.Like,God created this world, birds, animals and human etc is a kind of general theory or even a religious theory but since it can neither be replicated ,nor demonstrated,it does not fall into the category of a scientific theory.[the explanation is most rudimentary and devoid of any religious bias]

Change that to "can a creationist" and the answer is "no"
This includes well-known theories such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and Newton’s Theory of Gravity, as well as lesser-known ones such as the Debye–Hückel Theory of electrolyte solutions

Scientific theory means someone went to a whole lot of school so they could attach a cool prefix to theory.
A theory is a theory. You can attach whatever prefix to it you wish its still an UNPROVED guess as to what happened.

I believe that they consider the difference to be sins and big sins. The size of the sin is the primary difference. How big is your sin?
