I know you're supposed to shave with the growth of your hair but when I do that it's like a havn't shaved at all and there are bits of hair sticking up and it's hard to tell where I've shaved and where I havn't.

When I shave against the growth, I get this nice smooth shave but unfortunately after a day I get razor bumps.

I don't want to do waxing because it takes up more time and is more expensive over time and hair removal products are expensive as well, not too mention allergies could be an issue (although I have yet to try one of these products).

So, any ideas?

Change your razor frequently - every 4 to 5 shaves. Rinse your razor really well after each use & allow it to air dry. The Schick Quattro is my favorite razor.

Use a good shaving cream or gel. Aveeno's shaving gel for sensitive skin = my favorite.

Use a bath puff or face cloth w/ moisturizing shower gel or soap on your legs to sweep away dead skin cells.

If you want a close shave, you will have to shave against the grain. Exfoliate the area very well to scruff off any dry/dead skin. Use a good shaving cream and a fresh razor. If you still have bumps, there is a cream called Bikini Zone that will take them away and that isn't expensive. Good luck!

When I shave my bikini area, I use the hair erazor. There are several companies that make this type of razor. The Body Bare Intimate Shaving System at www.2sensualproducts.com is like the one I use. It takes the hair off and leaves no stubble, most of all no bumps.

Bikini Zone works really well on razor bumps anywhere not just the bikini area

i have that problem too.

some tips:

1. don't hold your chin up when you shave (it sucks in the hairs and when they start to grow out they cause irritation)
2. use hot water
3. use good razors! expensive = good! when the strip runs out, replace!

good luck!

be sure to use an aftershave,
the aftershave will cool your skin and prevent razor burn and bumps.
leaving you with smooth, shaved skin.

:)
i hope this helps
