Courtney dear, get your head out of the clouds. Who's been telling you such tall tales? LOL

First of all, jesus was not G-d. There is but ONE G-d. He goes by many names, but the one's I'm familar with are: Hashem, Adonei, Elohim, Elokeinu and more.

And...if someone else has told you that other silly story about jesus being the Messiah...read for yourself what's been documented:

It is important to understand why Jews don't believe in Jesus. The purpose is not to disparage other religions, but rather to clarify the Jewish position. The more data that's available, the better-informed choices people can make about their spiritual path.

JEWS DO NOT ACCEPT JESUS AS THE MESSIAH BECAUSE: (What exactly is the Messiah?)

1) Jesus did not fulfill the messianic prophecies.
2) Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of the Messiah.
3) Biblical verses "referring" to Jesus are mistranslations!
4) Jewish belief is based on national revelation.
5) Christianity contradicts Jewish theology

JESUS DID NOT FULFILL THE MESSIANIC PROPHECIES
What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? The Bible says that he will:

A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).

B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).

C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)

D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world -- on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

The historical fact is that Jesus fulfilled none of these messianic prophecies. NONE, nada, zip, ZILCH.

Christians counter that Jesus will fulfill these in the Second Coming, but Jewish sources show that the Messiah will fulfill the prophecies outright, and no concept of a second coming exists.

Fundamentally, Judaism believes that G-d, as the creator of time, space, and matter, is beyond them, and cannot be born or die, or have a son. Judaism teaches that it is heretical for any man to claim to be God, part of G-d, or the literal son of God.

The Jerusalem Talmud (Ta'anit 2:1) states explicitly:
---> "if a man claims to be God, he is a liar." <-------

------------------------------
Now, I'm sure most of this is too complicated for you to understand...but in a nutshell, NO. There is one G-d, and he has not, can not or did not die.

Read your Old Testament more before you start stating INCORRECT facts, darling.

:)

This is your belief, and should be respected regardless. Once belief is involved, then no explanation or scientific evidence is required.
There is no way to prove or disprove it. The majority of historians do not buy into this (sorry). Some historians even contend if Jesus existed at all. There are similar stories (i.e. the virgin birth, dying on the cross, arising from dead) about many other individuals before Jesus, like Horus, the Egyptian God, Mithra, the Persian and etc.
in terms of religion, the majority of Chrisitians belive that Jesus is God, some don't - claiming that, believing Jesus is God compromises the strict concept of monotheism in Abrahamic religions. Jews think that Jesus was a heretic (sorry). Muslims believe that Jesus was a mighty prophet of God, but not God.
At the end of the day, it is your choice to think about all these explanations and decide what makes sense to you, accept and live your life happily ever after...

It's really important that our understanding of God doesn't come from our own heads (in the same way our understanding of the moon shouldn't be made up in our heads) but rather is built on what he's told and shown us in the Bible. Otherwise we're going to end up with a made up God. God is a paradox that can't fully fit in our heads - but I'm ok with that because God is bigger than my head. At the same time though it's pretty easy to outline the bible's view of God. Three points: - There is 1 God - The Son is God, the Father is God, the Holy Spirit is God - The Son is NOT the Father, the Father is NOT the Holy Spirit, and the HS is NOT the Son. There is 1 God (Deut 6:4 and Mark 12:29 - 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.') The Son is God - John 10:27: (jesus speaking) " 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.' The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, 'I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?; The Jews answered him, 'It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.' " Heaps of others too as someone else has posted. the Father is God - Mark, etc :p the Holy Spirit is God - Jn 4:24 'God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth'. Or 2 Cor 3:17 'Now the Lord is the Spirit,..' 3 distinct beings, 1 God. It's important to point out that the distinctions are not in their value but in their relationship to each other (they even call each other 'Father', 'Son' and 'Spirit')! The Son is obedient to the Father, the Father glorifies the Son and the Spirit works pointing people to Jesus. This is a good passage for seeing these dynamics going in: John 8:12-59 (note the people's reaction at the end to Jesus' 'I AM' statement - they recognise what he's saying.) Biblical Christianity says that the Son is God, the Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and that this is the way it has always been. Hard to understand, but this is the God of the bible. The reason I believe this is because God verified it by raising Jesus from the dead! That is the real cornerstone and foundation of my belief :) Cheers, Peter

No, I do not believe that Jesus is Almighty God. First of all, the scriptures say that Jesus was raised up BY his Father. Not that he raised himself. If he WAS his father, who raised him up? If the scripture says that God is from Everlasting to Everlasting... from Time Indefinite to Time Indefinite, how is it that he died? And the scriptures also say that "no man can see God and live" yet Jesus walked the earth and was seen by thousands.

Side note: Woody? I beg to differ. Josephus most certainly acknowledged the existence of Jesus, although not his divinity. This link takes you to something I just found that shows some folks trying to debunk the efforts of others to make it seem like Josephus DID acknowledge his divinity. That is very disputable. The fact that he was a historical figure is not. http://www.carm.org/questions/Josephus_Jesus.htm

Take a look please. :)

No evidence Christ didn't rise from the grave??? Do you read ANY of the bible?? Perhaps you should do that before you throw in your opinion.

Courtney, Jesus is God's son, yet they are the same person. That's hard for our human minds to try to grasp, so let's just say that God sent Jesus to earth. Jesus was CRUCIFIED on the cross for all of our sins. He was buried. They had the tomb guarded 24/7. Three days later they opened the tomb that was NEVER left unguarded and lo and behold there was no body there. Jesus had risen! He is alive in heaven right now! There was NO body, NO bones, NO clothes, no NOTHING in the tomb. So, how someone can TRY and say it didn't happen....they obviously don't know God and His power (AND His love), is a bit ridiculous.

Why is it when someone asks a question they truly want help with, people have to jump in with nasty comments that they can't back up?? People need to respect other people instead of trying to bash them with their 'thoughts' instead of giving advice/words to help them.

You should explore who Jesus is in Islam. I am not Muslim but Islam believes that God saved Jesus from execution and there is evidence in the Bible that supports this. I understand that some Christians will take offense to this but knowledge is power and I think it would be wise for Christians to examine who Jesus is in Islam. I find that a lot of Christians do not understand who Jesus is in Islam and that a lot of Muslims are very knowledgeable about Jesus in both the Qur'an and the Bible. It is difficult to relate and teach when one does not understand the other persons beliefs. I'm actually kind of intrigued that more Christians have not examined this.

I am non-religous and a former Christian and my explanation is that I have yet to see the Bible support Christian theology (my opinion).

Fictitious event to explain why the "Messiah" died without fulfilling any of the prophecies

I take it you believe everything you read?

The Qur'an, another book, says Jesus didn't rise from the dead and is not the son of God. Since it says it in a book, it must be so.
