It's interesting how they claim atheists have no morals, then turn around and say they can get away with whatever because thaty've accepted Jesus into their hearts.
Maybe the list is so they know what to ask god to forgive them for.

God's Word is the same for everyone. His Laws are protecting us. It is important part of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior that we repent= turn away from our bad ways.
You are forgiven when you ask forgiveness. So you need to recognize when you have been sinning. Or of course you can pretend that you do not need a Savior. That is a bad choice. Because if you want to make it to heaven by law, you need to keep all of it and all the time.

I don't think we really have a list of sins. I think there's the Old Testament law which was written for the theocracy because that was in line with the form of Israeli government at the time.
Other than that, I see it as guidelines for right living. None of it is black and white.

He does forgive us, but ONLY if we are sincerely sorry for our sins AND promise to make a sincere effort to avoid them in the future.
In John's Gospel, Jesus forgives the woman adulterer and says that the one among her would-be executioners who is without sin should cast the first stone at her.
But everybody forgets the part where, just before dismissing the woman, Jesus tells her to "go, and sin no more."
In other words, this whole forgiveness thing is a two-way street. God does His part -- more than His part, actually -- but we also have to do ours.

Because you believe you want to do what is right regardless. And if you go around doing everything you want to do then you really aren't sorry in your heart which he knows which means you are NOT forgiven... He knows when your sorry and when your not... Sinning on purpose is basically what your talking about, which he would know about...

why did your parents give you rules? They are going to love you no mater what (hopefully). It was to protect you! Sin is bad! It causes problems! Look what sex outside of marriage has done to our society (rape, lust, porn, abortion, etc.) Look as what greed has done to our society - the love for money is tearing families apart. God gave us rules to protect us. . . also, we show God we love him by following those rules. Hope this helps. God Bless

It's for the accounting ledger just in case you decide you don't want to be "saved" through Jesus Christ's sacrifice.
What.....you thought God doesn't get audited?

so that free will can exist...
...it'd be right boring if we didn't have the ability to think and do things the way we wanted...
... so God's like "ok, I'll give you the ability to do whatever you want...
...which would have to include the stuff that I don't want y'all to do, so you could indeed have the chance to do whatever you want...
... but know that if you do the stuff I don't want you to do, I'll get cheezed off..."

By not sinning, we are striving to be better people, we are striving to be sinless like god.
