Either you wont go to sleep, or the headphones may snap under pressure of your head. You may harm your pinnae or your outer ears when you turn in your sleep with the headphones on.
Again if you have a louder volume with an extra bass and treble you are more likely to damage your ear drums. Especially with the modern music with more high pitched instruments and electronic media, you are more likely to go deaf so be careful.

No more than listening to them while you're awake. (Except for the possibility of injuring yourself with the device in your sleep...ie breaking the headphones and cutting your earlobes on the damaged plastic) The real question is how loud you turn them up! THAT could damage your ears!

It makes no differance whether you are asleep or awake the music still affects the ear the exact same way.

as long as the music is soft, no problem, tho' long term, there could be slight damage from continual sound wearing out the bones of the inner ear. they are tiny and very fragile and even your ears need to be rested from time to time.

No, as long as the music isn't too loud.
