i was told that this temple had lost its powers and was advised not to go there any more. when i questioned more i was given the wierdess of all explanations. they told me that some one had taken a handful of sand from the temple and made a charm with the sand to close down the temple. now, they claim that the deity has been tied down and is of no use anymore. is this true. can this happen. is there such a possibility. can a deity be tied down by man. dont we consider the diety a representative of god. i am confused. i believe this is shear nonsense and stupidity. please help.

Friend,

First of all the conception of deity and temple and its sanctity or power are to be understood in a clear way.

Please understand that when a temple is built the main deity or MOOLA VIRAAT is also sculptured by some shilpi or sculpturer. While making the sculptures of any idol , when they are very big it is impossible tomake them without our feet touching and hands dirty etc. After the temple is complete the Moola virat is placed in Sanctum Sanctorium (Garbha Gudi) with so many rituals as prescribed in scriptures.
Under the main idol precious stones ,gold and other valuable things with mantras will be placed and a Yantra of the particular deity (that deity ) will also be first worshipped and placed underneath the main idol. Then the Rithviks will do chanting of divin mantras which transfer cosmic energu into this idol. The power transfered depends upon the mantras and the rithviks or Rishis will have the knowledge to sat how long the power is going to be there .So the main idol will be fully powerful till that period.Inorder not to see that the energy is not lost speedily there qwill be daily poojas and archanaas.
But after thae said perid automatically the power ceases to be there.
Even if the idol is moved, or the Moolaviraat it molested in the sense touched by un authorised persons (all are eligible , but the procedure is laid to touch), or the underneath yantra and wealth is plundered then the power of temple is lost and it requires to be REVITALISED again.
This is clearly written in scriptures.
The beleiivers may beleive and other may say it is non sense.
But it isa advisable to read temple construction, consecration and praana pratista in our scriptures, before commenting.

this is my humble opinion.

God lives within u and in every atom of this world. Wherever ur faith is God will manifest himself there itself. Now faith is positive affirmations to urself in the form of prayer. Foreigners do not go to our temples to find God but simply as a tourist interest. It does not mean any other thing to them. They see the architectural beauty and culture of India just as a tourist. Some take up research on our chanting of mantra and idol worship. In India also there r many religions against idol worship. So God cannot be tied by any one except a true devotee. God accepts that devotee who works for betterment of His world and be kind and loving to fellow beings. Only such devotees r showered with choicest blessings of God. If u want to go to that temple renounced by others, u can do so. Ur faith will manifest the God u r seeking. Do not get confused, God is above all these things and history has proved it many times. God is with u only till u r on the right path. When u deviate he puts u back on the right path even if he has to let u pass thru hard times. Ultimately every warrior has to kneel down before the Almighty.

You must go to Temples and have the holy Darsana of God in the form of Archa-Vigraha if you are serious about your spiritual elevation. Temples never lose their purifying power even if it is Kali-Yuga.

If you do some spiritual sadhana at home, you get some result. But, if you do the same sadhana in a temple, you get better result. I am convinced about this.

Simply by visiting Lord Siddhi-Vinayak in His Temple at Prabhadevi, Mumbai, many Mumbaiites have even their material problems solved. You may note that this happens in Mumbai, which is considered to be the most materialistic city in India. Many celebrities of Hindi-cinema are devotees of Lord Siddhi-Vinayak and they visit the Lord's temple frequently.

Lord Tirupati (Balaji) is also the cynosure of many film-celebrities in India. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan went to Lord Balaji's Temple, you know.

It's all stupidity. Temples don't have powers. They're buildings.

There's no such thing as deities. Or gods.

It is up to you to believe or not to believe.
Otherwise all these temples are man-made infrastructures to train us, or to educate us, about the real God who is everywhere and dose not need any temple or system of worship.

Even the meanings of those Mantras which are chanted while worshiping tell us the reality of the God.

The God is beyond all of our superstitions.
The real power is within us.

Let me tell you temples never lose its powers.
The deity is all the same, just people stop going there, you go there and lit a light every day and people gradually follow you and the temple get its power back.

The Power in temple's is perceived by each individual differently and the individuals outlook. You are just not skin, bones, flesh , and blood ; there is something beyond and each person senses it in his own way. its a complicated subject and to appreciate it suggest you read the articles "The Speaking Tree" in Times of India

Temples, Gurudwara's or any place of worship will never ever loose their powers because:

*where there is prayer, there is God, and where there is God, there is power.
