ok do not use hot water at all! it should barley be warm. you have to remember the eyes are alot more sensetive to heat. Just get a wash cloth and stroke the eye gently until you think the area is clean enough. This might be pink eye though, so even if your avoiding a trip to the vet it's probably going to be inevitable if you are really concerned for your kittens health. You don't have to pay for a full visit, just tell them you need eyedrops, they'll tell you what they recommend. Good Luck!
and people i understand that this is a serious subject, but relax, no need to be so dramatic..

How do you know the eye is infected? If you believe it is infected, you'll need to take the kitten to the vet so that he can prescribe medication for it.
Sometimes kittens get Ophthalmia neonatorum which is an infection of the conjunctiva (the thin layer of tissue that lines the eyelids) or cornea (the transparent structure that makes up the front part of the eye). It occurs before or just after the eyelids open in kittens, usually during the first 10 to 14 days of life.

Since you have not taken him to the vet, the infection will get worst and he will go blind in the eye. There is no remedies I know of at home except water. Which is not going to clear or save the eye.
TAKE HIM TO THE VET PLEASE - Save a kitten today...

when i got my cat she was more like 4 or 5 weeks old, but her eyes were all green and gooed shut. as often as i saw them goo up i just took a clean washcloth and got it wet with warm water and constantly cleaned her eyes off. she hated it for a few days, but over the course of about a week, it cleared up. i couldnt afford to take her to the vet and this worked just fine. she sees perfectly now at a year old!

Need to take it to the vet, there is a cream that they will have you rub on. Make sure that whenever you are handling this and any of the littermates that you keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth. Wash REAL good with soap and water after handling them.

Take to the vet to get eye drops, this is a must, as it could cause serious problems down the road if not treated.

it might hurt you a bit, but, get some water, thats as hot as you think the kitten can handle it, and then get cotten buds and dab its eyes, do about twice a day, or when eyes start getting guey, hope it gets better( maybe wear gloves, if its a scratchy cat)
