It's really gross. It would be a huge reason not to date someone. Not only because of what chew is, but what it can do later to you. My uncle had to have half his lower lip removed because of the cancer. Now grant it, he did it probably a lot more than you do. But why take the chance.
Have you tried the patch??

Try coffee instead..... Chewing is nasty. even if you do it away from her, the smell stay forever and is slowly taring the inside of your lip out. Look what I've found on this.
******** Generally by the first month of use, the inside surfaces of the lips and gums (in contact with the tobacco) have already begun to undergo cellular changes. In fact, it’s recommended that chewing tobacco users should see their dentist every three months for an oral cancer screening.
Studies have found that between 60% to 78% of users over 5-years have precancerous oral lesions. Long-term snuff users have a 50% greater risk of developing oral cancer than non-users.
Safer Than Smoking?
No. It's actually more addictive because it contains higher levels of nicotine than cigarettes. It's usually harder to quit than cigarettes. Younger adults and adolescents who use chewing tobacco related products are 4 to 6 times more likely to develop oral cancer within five year of regular use.
One can of snuff delivers more nicotine than over 60 cigarettes!
Toxic substances in smokeless tobacco are absorbed through the tissues of the mouth and into the body. These substances include:
Cadmium
Formaldehyde
Lead
Nicotine
Uranium 235

I don't think so. Tobacco chewers have terrible breath and will eventually have rotting gums.
Use Nicotine patches, or get a prescription for Wellbutrin or Chantix. Both medications work really well at curing, completely curing nicotine addiction.

I think the constant spitting is gross so I don't think I could date someone. What about the alternative: use a nicotine patch when you can't smoke. I friend's mom is a smoker, but she's now dating a non-smoker. When she's with him, she slaps a nicotine patch on her arm so she doesn't have to worry about the cravings. But she has absolutely no intention of quitting.

Personally, ew, no way. Even if he doesn't chew it around you, the taste is still in his mouth later, and it rots his teeth and gums - yuk, does not inspire the desire to kiss.
Get a patch and some gum and take control of your life. Just because it's the social trend for athletes of certain sports to use certain products, doesn't mean you have to. It doesn't make you any less of "one of the boys", and living a healthier lifestyle can only improve your game.

I am from Texas so most of the men I know dip snuff or chew. If a girl has a problem with it, just try to be clean. They now use bottles with lids to spit in. I even know some who don't spit at all. I don't think your little addiction should be a factor when you are dating. There are some women who use too! Ever met one?

hmm.. tricky question. you already know chewing is nasty and can cause mouth cancer and rots your teeth etc etc... however, if you play hockey, maybe you don't have many teeth to be concerned with? :o) (i am kidding here)
if i really liked a guy, i would hope i could overlook it. and maybe secretly stick nicotine patches on him in the hopes he won't need to chew forever!!!

No, never, no matter the guy. I think tobacco is repulsive, in any form. It's good you don't smoke though; not destroying the environment, but still tobacco is bad for you, and makes your teeth yellow.
