Dear sister Karen,
All of my friends have given you very good answers . I thank and encourage them all.
Just ,
please refer to the Bible:-
-----------------------------------
" For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son ,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life " ( John 3:16 )
To give... Life to us , God gave His one and the only son.
If so, why can't we Christians too follow His example to give life to others.
42. " For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink ,
43. I was a stranger and you did not invite me in,
I needed clothes and you did not clothe me ,
I was sick
and in prison and you did not look after me.
44."They will answer ,' Lord ,when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45. " He will reply ,'I tell you the truth ,' whatever you did not do for one of the least of these ,you did not do for me.'
46. Then they will go away to eternal punishment ,but the righteous to eternal life." ( Matthew 25: 42- 46 )
The above verses strictly warn us that people who don't care for others ( especially for the sick ) won't enter in to heaven.
Many Christians don't know the exact meaning of the Bible .They are not filled with the divine Love and hence they don't care for others' sufferings. They are selfish ,they don't have Love in them and they won't enter in to heaven. They are Christians who are just cheating themselves.
We must know that all Christians won't go to heaven.
1. " For I do not want you to be ignorant ot the fact ,brothers ,that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.
2. They were all baptized in to Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
3. They all ate the same spiritual food
4. and drank the same spiritual drink ;for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
5. Nevertheless ,God was not pleased with most of them ,their bodies were scattered over the desert.
( 1corinthians 10:1-5 )
Many Christians think that they are going to enter into heaven .But the above verse clearly says that , instead of entering in to the Promised Land Ccanaan, all
" were
killed by the destroying angel " ( 1 corinthians 10: 10 b )
( except two ,Caleb and Joshua ).
" The LORD had told those Israelites that they would surely die in the desert ,and not one of them was left except caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshuah son of Nun."
( Numbers 26:65 :
" The total number of the men of Israel was 601,730 "
( Numbers 26:51 ) [ Please refer exodus 12 : 37 also ]
23. " not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers .No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it .
24. But because my sevant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me whole heartedly ,I will bring him in to the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it."
( Numbers 14:23- 24 )
Jesus shed His blood and saved us so that we can Live eternally.
He was slain
and with his blood he purchased us for God .
"... because you were slain ,
and with your blood you purchased men for God."
( Revelation 5: 9 b)
" He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree,so that we might die to sin and live for righteouness;
by his wounds you have been healed."
( 1 Peter 2:24 ).
Ofcourse ,many Chrsitians think , "Why should I donate organs"
Bible says ,
12." My command is this ; love each other as I have loved you.
13. Greater love has no one than this ,
that he lay down his life for his friends.
14. You are my friends if you do what I command."
( John 15:12-14 ).
The main and Major Objective of Christian Life is to inherit Eternal Life, and nothing eles.
In Luke 18:18 ,
" A certain ruler asked Jesus ," Good teacher ,what must I do to inherit eternal life? "
As the answer Jesus said,".....sell everything you have and give to the poor ,
and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come ,follow me."
( Please Ref Luke 18: 22 )
In another situation a Lawer asked Jesus the same question .
Jesus told him the Good Samaritan's parable and also instructed him to do likewise.
" Jesus told him," Go and do likewise ." ( Luke 10 : 37 b ).
Ofcourse what the Good Samaritan was doing ?.
He spent the property which he had with him ,in order to save the life of the man who fell in to the hands of the robbers who had stripped him of his clothes ,beaten him and had run away ,leaving him half dead.( Ref Luke 10: 30 )
The Samaritan did it out of his sympathy for him.
" ...as he traveled ,came where the man was ;
and when he saw him,
he took pity on him ".
( Luke 10: 33 b)
If a gentile Samaritan would do like this ,
we Christians are expected to do more out of our Christian Love and Sympothy.
Ofcourse the Samaritan did a (medical ) service just to save the life of a dying man.
and Jesus says to us all ,
" Go and do likewise ".
For what ?
In order to inherit the eternal Life.
People, like the rich man, never care for the dying people like Lazaruas and thus lose Eternity .
(Plese ref Luke 16: 19- 31 )
Jesus expects us to behave with the poor and the needy ones , exactly like him.
Ofcourse Jesus Himself is our Samaritan who took pity on us and saved us from Eternal death ,by shedding His most precious and sinless blood.
He gave His very Life for us so that we would be redeemed from Sin and Damnation .
" To this you were called ,
because Christ suffered for you ,
leaving you an example ,
that you should follow in his steps.
( 1 Peter 2:21 )
Most of the people do not know the exact meaning of the Bible, and just remain iron-hearted before the suffering and perishing humanity.
They are selfish without Jesus' nature in them.
But we who are called for eternity ,let us continure to care for the suffering souls as Jesus the Good Samaritan cared.
32. " Remember Lot's wife !
33. Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it ,
and whoever loses his life will preserve it. "
( Luke 17: 32- 33 )
There are many Bible preachers even ,who don't themselves come forward for organ donation .But they preach agaist this and discourage others also in this regard.
They are fearful people .Hence cowards .Not courageous.
"Woe to you teachers of the law and Phrisees,
you hypocrites !
You shut down the kingsom of heaven in men's faces .
you yourselves do not enter,
nor will let those enter who are trying to "
Matthew 23;13 )
" But the cowarly ,the unbelieving ,the murderers .......
-their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur."
( Revelation 21:8:a )
" Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witness."
( 1 Timothy 6:12 b)
Let us do and encourage organ donations.
" God is Love.
Whoever lives in Love lives in God ,
and God in him".
( 1John 4:16 b)
Grace be with us all.
With all Christian humility ,
( I am Dr.Coke's student )

Donating organs is giving life. I am listed on my drivers license as an organ donor and my dh would not have vision in one eye if it weren't for a donor. Not a lifesaving donation but one we are very grateful for. I have to say though, it is a weird feeling waiting for an organ. When you think about it, you are waiting for someone else to die.
From a Christian point of view; when I die some unsaved individual may receive one of my organs, a life saving donation and have another chance to accept Christ. So until the Lord shows me otherwise, I am all for organ donation.

I still am doubtful about it. I was raised as where my parents thought me I shouldn't as a christian.
My step father always used the scripture: from dust thou were made, to dust thou return.
He said that when you will be raised from the grave, you then will be incomplete.
He also said that even if you give a person an organ, if God says it's your time to go, a new organ won't save your life.
At this moment I think, that since you don't need your earthly body anymore after you die, it could be used to help somebody. God may use your organ to have somebody a second chance on life and gets a chance to be saved.
From that approach it sound like a good one, but I need to know a bit more before I make that important decision.

I have been a donor since i first got my drivers license at age 16 and had to have my parents sign their permission. I have always believed that it is something that all Christians should to benefit others. How better to show the world the love of God.

This is a tough question indeed. I believe that many will have different opinions about this one.
In my opinion, the bible reminds us that we can not live on bread alone, but that we must live under Him - through Him in love for eternal everlasting life. Jesus reminds us in the bible in several of the parables how (as an analogy, not to be taken literal) it is better to loose an arm than to steal or in James to cut out your tongue rather than to use it to say bad things hurting others (it's like a sward or a snake I believe it says).
The many passeges in the bible that express the need to show love to Him to all people and to Him denying ourselves, our bodies... I feel comfortable in my heart being an organ donor. I am also a blood donor. If I can help another human being to live their life even though the rest of my body is of no use, I feel I should do that because I love them as Christ lived to show me how to love all people. It isn't of my body that I live, it is of Christ that I live eternally. My body dies on earth and my spirit, "the real me", lives on.
I hope this makes sense. By the way, I don't agree with cloaning. A whole different subject!!!

I don't know many Christians who are against being an organ donor.
I think its the most selfless act a person can do and that God would definitely approve. Same goes for stem cell research (as long as you don't have to kill another human being).

If Jesus and God are about giving and life, then why would organ donation even be a question when you can save someone's life.

I can't think of a single reason why a person shouldn't be an organ donor. I am, and so is my wife.
I can't think of any scripture that would preclude us from being an organ donor. If somebody knows of some, I'd be interested in seeing that.
Personally, I think it's a great thing to do.

Why wouldn't God want us to give the gift of life after we go?
Im sure these "christains" would have a different stoy is they or a loved one ever needed a transplant. Upon death, donating one's organs is the greatest gift you could leave behind. Why would God disagree with such thoughtfulness, consideration of ones neighboor and love for someone youve never meant. I have already said i want my organs donated and im Christian.

I do not think it would be sinful to aid someone with a much needed organ. If Jesus turned water into wine why can't we turn an organ into an extended life with His blessings. I am not for selling the organ but I am not there physically to know what I would do.
My grandmother used to say people died today that never died before... that no longer apply today; does it?

I am a registered organ donor, as is my husband and mother.
I feel it would be selfish of me to let someone I could have saved die- if I am dead then I really don't need my organs, you know?
:0) And I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses (yes, we can donate/accept organs.)
