and am wanting to lose weight sensibly after the birth but am worried as to whether I'm going to be left with lots of excess skin as I've probably got about 6-7 stone to lose. I am 20.

Sensible answers/tips/suggestions only thanks. xx

Can I also just point out, I am not using being pregnant as an excuse to stuff my face, I am eating more sensibly now than I ever have, but am aware its quite dangerous to diet etc during pregnancy.

lots of greens - they'll help the baby too.

After the birth dont try and lose the weight straight away - the milk in your breasts will draw a lot of fat for the colostrum (first milk - the fattier milk that the baby gets at first) and breast milk. you should wait for AT LEAST 6 months after the birth before you start trying to lose weight. Tummy crunches and toning should help so that there shouldnt be a lot of excess skin.

good luck and congratulations!!

Some women do have additional sagginess, but for the most part with diet and exercise it won't be an excessive amount.

Continue with doctor recommended light exercise while you are pregnant. After you six-week check up ask again about exercise.

Join a weight loss group like Weight Watchers for the first six months after the baby. Researchers say that if you don't lose the baby weight within five months it's probably there to stay and from one over-weight woman to another, that's not what we want.

Don't cut calories while you are pregnant or nursing, but do watch what you eat. Skip the fried foods, processed sugar and non-whole wheat products. Eat more fruits, veggies and lean meat and cut back on the grains (notice I said cut back not cut off).

Check for exercise programs and videos that you can do with your baby. They'll give you time to bond and the much needed exercise you need to get back in your pre-baby shape. Collage Videos has a variety of things for pre-baby and post-baby that you might like.

Have a happy and blessed pregnancy.

you will lose a lot in the beginning but then dont try losing more than 1-2lbs a week because if you are losing more its just water weight and muscle not fat which means you are also slowing down your metabolism.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise (jogging, swimming, elliptical, walking fast is not cardio but fat loss is all about calories in vs calories out) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Take good care of your skin while you are pregnant, gently massaging your belly, breasts and buttocks with a mixture of olive oil, cocoa butter and a drop of lavender daily to prevent stretch marks. If you do light exercise now and eat right throughout your pregnancy you won't be stuck with too much weight after delivery and no, there will be no loose skin.

your pregnant eat what your body requires and enjoy your pregnancy. rosemary conely does a workout for pregnant women which isnt strenuous but gives you exercise which would make you feel better about yourself it may also strengthen tummy muscles. remember dont start any heavy workouts until 6 months till after your pregnancy to allow your body to return to normal.

especially after the baby, if you lose the weight quickly you will definately have alot of loose skin.
Eat right and excersise long term and you shouldnt have the skin. make it a long term thing not a quick fix.
