As a Thai kick boxer black belt in karate ect:
Lie down knees bent 45° toes under something that will not move.
With your hands behind your neck lift your elbows to your knees.
Drop back so your shoulders are approximately 3 inches from the floor repeat.
That is one recognized crunche.
With your hands behind your neck lift your left elbow and touch your right knee, do the same with your right elbow and your left knee.
However
If in the middle of your crunche you can get someone or something to drop or hit your abdomen this will make your stomach muscles react even more and tighten them even further.
Added to
Put your hands behind your neck never your head, you run the risk of damaging your neck muscles buy pulling on your head for those last two crunche's

To do a crunch correctly:
Lie flat on your back with feet flat on the floor, knees bent, eyes toward the ceiling. Cross your hands behind your head.
Inhale deeply (your stomach should inflate)
On your exhale, focus on lifting your head and shoulders off the floor. Keep your head in the same position, eyes on the ceiling, and focus on not straining your neck muscles. Your abs should be the only thing tensing. Lie back and repeat.

Just be sure that when you go back down, that you maintain tension on your abs, in other words, don't go quite all the way back down, keep those muscles tense. Otherwise, you can cause strains and hurts.
