See the words of Paul in Galatians Chapter 1, verse: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed."
This is the first verse that popped into my head when I read your question. God says, "Let him be accursed." They are certainly misleading folks -- don't even get me started on the false prophets of today! :-)

That really depends on if the action is directly forbidden in Gods word.
If it is not directly forbidden, for example , calling on the dead to intervene or answer questions, then it is only wrong if it causes another newer Christian to stumble and get confused.
I guess a little bit more about the situation would help here.
Edit: Scientology" This group does not use the bible at all, and I do not see them even calling themselves Christians. This is a group about self, and how self is all that matters, all else is on a sliding scale of importance under self.
JW" THis group rewrote the bible to suit their newest beliefs. This bible is scary , in that they claim it as a correct translation rather than the rewrite that it is.
FOr these people, they are going to have to look into the educational back ground of the translators and understand that a year of education in any language would not qualify yo to write a news article, let alone translate the bible from aramaic and Greek to english.
Mormon" This group has been told that Joseph Smith was the new prophet, much as the Muslims were told that mohammaad was the new prophet. smith claimed to get golden tablets and mohammaad claimed to split the moon. both are false and have been proven false, but there are always those who continue to want to believe.
Now, if someone willingly and knowlingly leads another down a false pathway to God, the bible states Woe to this man, but the ones that they lead down the false pathway are also in trouble. We are told to read Gods word on our own, and this is one of the biggest reasons that we need to read for ourselves.
How are we to recognize a false prophet (teacher) if we have not read Gods word for ourself and know what a true teacher is?

Seriously, Why not ask yourself this same question? You mentioned Scientology, Murmons, and the Jehovah's Witnesses. What makes you believe that you have the true religion? What makes you so sure you are not as guilty as they are? I'm not really looking for an answer from you... these are questions you need to ask yourself. And no, pls. no smart remark needed either.
I can sense by your comments toward other religions that you put yourself in a pedestal. That is one thing that Jesus didn't like about the religious leaders back during his time. They were haughty and too proud; putting themselves with disgust above others. I believe that you are advanced in age?? since i recall you saying you've been a Jehovah's Witness for 22 years and now in the truth for the same amount of time??? (born again christian, i presume) then i suggest that you act your age even in words and with your comments. You will not be able to bring others to believe what you believe when all they read from you are negative comments as to why they or we should not be listening to JWs or Mormons or Scientology.
Why not, instead of putting down other religion with so much bitterness, why not, in a kind way comment or write about your beliefs and why you are the true faith? You profess you're a true Christian, right? But i rarely see or read comments from you without putting other religion down. You really need to stop putting too much focus and attention to other religion and focus more on yours put on the Christ-like personality.
I rarely make comments. I just mostly read them and observe. I have had made a few remarks as well that may not had been very nice but i surely do not make it a habit to put other religion down even if i believe they are the false religion.
I honestly do not know how advance you are in age. I am only 23 years old and it makes me sad how people who are more experienced in life and should be setting a good example to younger generations like us in how to treat others despite their beliefs, are actually a bad role model.
If you truly have found CHrist and the true teaching and convinced that what you have now is the true Christianity, then why are you so bitter and unhappy? Shouldn't it be enough for you to know that you have found your faith?

Over my loong life I have met many kinds of people. One was a person with a mental retardation disability. He looooved God of his whole heart. I promise you that God loves him too.
Next, a friend in Africa, totally uneducated and illiterate to boot, but how he loved God and serving him. On occasion, we cringed at his statements but knew that he couldn't help it; he was a beautiful Christian.
Then there are those that are mislead by their churches -- and Matthew 24 shows that to be a lot -- the church leaders will most certainly be held responsible by God! This is assured.
Still, a great many of the adherents of many churches are doing all they can according to their limitations, Christ will judge them mercifully I hope and pray.
BUT, those that deny the Father and the Son by preaching, teaching that they are a triune God are the anti-Christ, those who do so willfully and lie from their hearts (Isaiah chapter 59)
will not escape punishment.

I know it’s hard to let go of the 20 years you invested on JW’s but since you realized that their teachings are inaccurate and their ways far from being god’s ways just get on with your life. God is greater than our greatest mistakes and thank God for that.
People true in their heart and mind sooner or later will find their way home….

Worship is described in the Bible and it's very simple, as in not ornate. Since God told us how to worship, we should not be adding to or subtracting from it. Incorrect worship is disobedience.
The following verses tell us how to worship:
Colossians 3:16 on singing.
"Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts."
Acts 1:14 on prayer.
"They all met together continually for prayer."
Colossians 3:1 on reading from the Bible.
"Let the words of Christ live in your hearts and make you wise."
Acts 20:7 on communion.
"On the first day of the week we gathered to observe the Lord's Supper."
1 Corinthians 16:1-2 on giving (not tithing).
"On every Lord's Day each of you should put aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for the offering."
2 Timothy 4:2 on preaching.
"Preach the word of God. Patiently correct, rebuke and encourage your people with good teaching."
Psalm 48:9 on meditation and reflection.
"O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship."

Depends on what you mean by "wrong." If it is a matter of style, God is not bothered by it, because He looks to the heart. Are you worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth when you worship? That is what God is concerned about.
God is concerned about syncretism, however. (The joining of pagan practices to the worship of God.) This is insulting to God, and He has given a clear command.
"You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods." (Deuteronomy 12:31)
In this passage, God tells Israel that they aren't to do perverse things that the pagans did and call it "worship." The detestable things that He was talking about included ritual prostitution.

A Christian that discovers any wrong should correct it. If they are in error and don't know it, then God will not hold it against them. They are not misleading if they have not been given a revelation from God.
