Well, it is nice to know that some people do go out of the way to let you know that the position wasn't yours.

I've had one from a person who I though hit it off well with but due to internal hiring they picked someone else. That was my phone call but they offered me another position which wasn't a good fit for me in another location 4 months later. The person probably thought you were good and should get a phone call but they may have to internal hire, so you may get a call for another position with in your company....

Of course getting a letter or email would be great especially when you are getting a thank you but no thanks; but most don't do it.... Sounds like you made an impression for them to call you...

good luck

Yes, this person is going out ofthe way to give you the courtesy of a response. Consider yourself lucky. I think you should take this as a learning opportunity though. call back or email and politely ask if she could offer you advice on what would have made your interview stronger. You may learn some things that may surprise you and may help you next time. It also makes you look really mature and may make them think about you the next time they go through a round of hiring.

Mostly We at recruiting end refrain from giving bad news to the candidates because it creates further mess like confrontation and arguement and perseverence and mixed feeling later.
Hence we do not tell the bad news.
I wonder why this company did that

May be they believe in Completing communication process.

It's go0od that you Know and you are no more at the expecting end.

Move on.............Life never stops

Neither should you.

Cheer up & Good luck!

Something tells me your glowing ego had something to do with it. I'm reading in your question you seem to think you're a top-notch candidate (one who can't exactly spell or write correctly).

Be thankful they were professional enough to call you and say thank you for your time even if it wasn't you they hired. Just move on and keep looking.

I think you're lucky, I have gone to interviews to never hear from the company again. At least they let you know.

Lily's right.

It is a disappointment, but at least you didn't have to sit around and wonder all weekend if the job is yours or not. I think that HR person is great.
