I would like to know where there is information regarding for trucks between 2000-2005. I am planning on buying a F150, F250, or F350 diesel and I heard that the model in 2003, particularly the 6.0 L version for the diesel had lots of problems. Are there other years that I should not consider or look into more?

Take the words from a Ford tech, the F150 is no problem, the F250-F350 is a good truck as long as it doesn't have a 6.0 liter diesel, the 7.3 liter was a great engine. If for some reason you do buy a 6.0 liter maintain it religiously, oil and filter every 5000, fuel filters every 15000, nothing but clean fuel, not crap from some rusty old bulk tank, and finally, don't let it set and idle, idle time cokes the turbo vanes and EGR valve up causing problems. I personally own a 2003 6.0 liter F250 and have had few problems with it but it is meticulously maintained. One other thing, the 6.0 liter will knock the injectors out if it is starved for fuel, if you live in a cold climate be very careful about what goes into your tank, if it starts to gel up just shut if of and get it into a heated shop.

Go to your public library and most likely in the reference section you will find the "Consumers Buyers Guide" There is an area of that book (which is published each year) a frequency of repair record. As well as a list of models that are high risk due to maintenance cost.

Kelly Blue Book is very helpful and trustworthy. It's not one of those sites that are full of crap...it's the real deal.
