I dont think so. Charcoal adds more of a smokey flavor than gas. but other than that, theres not much more of a difference. dont worry about it, gas grills do just as well.

My charcoal grill is at it's last throes of life. So I came looking here for a way to see if I can get a new grille that I can get the charcoal flavor I demand, but get it with the initial ease of a gas grille. ANYONE that advises that you can get the superior charcoal flavor by substituting a "smoke box", or the other ideas proffered here no know nothing of what they are talking about. I sense that that they are trying to kid themselves, or trying to justify the purchase of a gas grille for the ease, when their smarter wives told them to grow up and suffer the extra work and time to get a superior tasting meal. I have resolved myself to buying two grilles. I have no interest in hearing further "also ran" justifications. But if anyone knows of a new and innovative brand that has actually solved the problem of, not just a two sided grill, with one side for charcoal, the other side for gas, but rather a grille that can be legitimately used, with both sides interchangeably...PLEASE LET US ALL KNOW. The rest of the justifiers have had their inferior thoughts here. How can there not be even ONE manufacturer that has answered this issue? :(

Hi, It depends on the BBQ make. Some can be converted over to NG and some cannot. Check your hoses, if their crimped on than no. if they are connected by brass fittings that screw on to the BBQ than it's full speed ahead. The cost will be a couple hundred dollars max. depending on the make. And no you just can't change out the orifices. Don't take that advise from anyone. Certain makes such as Weber for an example have to have a whole new thing, while there are others in which just a change of the orifices is all it takes. But you would need to get a NG approved line or hose. Take your instruction book to a store like True Value,os an Ace. The salesperson should be able to correctly help you. Home Depot and Lowe's salespeople never work there long enough to truly learn the safe procedure for this. Good Luck, I hoped this helps you. Bye

I myself prefer the convenience of gas, I also prefer wood smoke to charcoal. So I use a smoker box and wood chips on my gas grill. Both are readily available and less then $10. Do not ruin you new grill by attempting to convert it.

NO! Buy a small charcoal grill for those times when you want that smokey flavor.
I'm sorry, but didn't you consider this before paying $400 for a grill that doesn't cook the way you'd like??
Please, next time, try to research before the purchase.
