Only if you are already established in your job, you might be able to say, "On a couple days a week, could I work from home, I can be more productive and will still get everything done." This is pretty rare though, and furthermore, you need a reason for doing so. Just because you like sitting in your pajamas is not a good enough reason. Or you can start your own business, then you can set your own hours, but more than likely they'll be much longer than 8 to 5

A lot of them are scams - or not enough for you to live off of.
My best advice is head to your local book store today and find the magazine called Success From Home - it has real people and stories of success -
Ask a lot of questions to the person - and talk to your friends and family too - if you live in an area where they haven't heard of a product before you may have a wonderful idea there in sales - (from home) and being your own boss.
Everyone says "oh, it's not for me".. well people want to work from home - and here's some advice.
You could also do child care - lucrative but time consuming.
Auctions but the over head is a lot and your best bet is to sell items to people who can't buy in bulk forms.
Good Luck

Other than asking your current boss if you could work from home a few days a week, the only career I know of where it is typically "work-from-home" is medical transcription.
Check your local hospitals' websites. They may have job listings (and offer training for the job). You may have to take a 9 month course on medical transcription.
I think the rest pretty much are scams.

Any company that asks you for upfront or initial payment for a home based job is likely to be a scam.Freelance writing and forum posting are some of the flexible work at home jobs. Any one can write few paragraphs on popular subjects and earn a regular income.Information on companies offering these kind of jobs without any investment is available at http://w2c.info

Yes, you just have to find something that fits your lifestyle and that you can get excited about. I love what I have recently come across. I am a mom of 2 and very concerned about what sort of chemicals, and products I use around the house. Found an awsome health/wellness wholesale buying site with nontoxic, safe for everyone products. Im loving it. Everyone is a customer, but they give you the option to make extra money just by endorsing the products. If you'd like more info click my avatar and email.
Good luck to you and hope you find what your looking for!!!

This data entry program is my favorite. They pay you on time everytime by direct deposit just for filling in various company forms for their clients which is in the thousands, so you'll always have work. You can make from $5.00/hr - $25/hr, just depends on the kind of time you have to devote to it. I do it part time and make $300 a day. Just imagine what I or you could do with this if it could be done full time. Check it out, I'm sure you'll love it as much as me. https://paydotcom.com/r/3925/mwari23/360245/!
This is another great home business.

I work from home as a Benefits Specialist. I looked for work at home for 3 years before finding this company, and I believe its one of the best ones out there. They currently have about 70,000 people working from home. They also have almost 2 million members on their benefits plan. They allow people to work from home full or part time. They offer 401(k) and direct deposit. Plus you get the benefits for your whole household. http://www.freedomathometeam.com/JBurke
