I let my dog do this because that is the only hole he digs. They are smart and know that they can lie in it to keep cool. I would feel cruel not letting him keep the hole. I would only get upset if he dug many holes just to dig and make a mess.

You should got to PetVideos, but if you can't, here's what to do.

You shouldn't let your dog dig in a hole, instead set up a sand box for him, bury some of his treats or toys inside and encourage him to dig for gold! (like dig with him for a couple of mins.) You can also change the treats and toys every week, so everytime he digs he'll have a new surprise waiting fo him!

But your saying he sleeps in it...well you should set up a dog house for him, go to http://www.glamourdog.com/houses.html for some nice dog houses for sale.

But let him keep the hole...

Sure it is ok. That is one way they try to keep cool.....from the cool moist dirt. Either arrange to keep him cool or leave him along. I have no used for pit bulls because they can become unpredictable at the drop of a hat. The mixes can do the same thing and because of being a half breed may be ever worse. Pops

Dogs love to dig holes and lay in them, that's part of being a dog. Your dog seems to be happy, please, let the little rascal lay in his hole, it doesn't hurt him

If you don't have a problem with it I don't see any reason to make him stop.
