get a 100wX2 receiver for $80, and some cheap 3 way floor standing speakers with 12" or 15" woofers, like KLH or something...$280 and I guarantee it's the loudest and has the widest frequency response (lower bass) it takes a large speaker to play bass loudly. That's not an opinion, it's math.

Ok well what I recommend is a system with plenty of power, and a Denon AV receiver will give you just that. One thing I think you will really like about this company's receiver, well at least their higher end models, is that it is capable of connecting multiple rooms to the same receiver. So for instance, if you're having a party, you can have different music playing in different rooms, all from the same receiver. Or you could be watching a movie in one room and be playing music in another, again, all on the same receiver.

As for speakers, I would recommend Definitive Technology or Mirage speakers. Both are EXTREMELY good.

I'm not going to lie, these things are not going to be cheap, and for these things along it's going to run around $2,500.

For your connections, if you get it professionally installed which is going to cost from $300-$600 depending on what you're getting installed and how, and that includes a consultation of what you can and can't do.

Oh yea, that price includes everything already, installation, consultation, cords, all the works, BUT prices might have changed now.

well so long as you can get the right chanell to the speakers on the right and the left to the left, and you have a good source... and the speakers generally point to where ever you generally are in the room... I don't see a problem... it's a house so there's like curtains and things on the walls to break up the sound a bit so the speakers at the back aren't likely to colide in the middle of the room with the speakers at the front making a dead zone... so yeah... that's about the extent of my knowledge lol...
oh and if you're ever doing a gig make sure the mic is further back from your speakers sound guys don't get this... it's so every mic that's on a speaker gets 90% from that speaker and 10% the rest of the band... making a much better sound meld **** ^_^...

You need to go to your local electronics store and test the speakers on display. Go for floor-standing model speakers for LOUD parties. And yes, you need a receiver. Quite possibly the most important piece of equipment in any setup.

Assuming you even can attach them to the receiver (due to Bose's proprietary connectors) they will probably sound the same. Just make sure your wattage and ohms are compatible. Bose speakers are overpriced by the way. You can do much better with less if you buy Klipsch or Polk speakers.
