Hi Ive started the Special K diet today as Ive gained half a stone over the months and I think this one sounds cheap and easy! However it says 2 bowls to meals, so the way Im doing it is I have a bowl of Spec K in the morning and then I have a sandwich and a yogurt (thats the first meal) for lunch, and then another bowl spec k in the afternoon, and then I have another meal at about 5pm, and thats all I will eat then.

What Im wondering is say a sandwich & yogurt/apple is this classed as a meal? and can I still pick at fruit inbetween all the cereal and meals?

Hope you understand... not very good at explaining :(

A sandwich, yogurt and a piece of fruit are considered a meal. I would use wheat or whole grain bread for the sandwich and stay away from white bread because of the carbs. You should be very successful as long as your 5:00 pm meal doesn't add alot of calories for the day. Yes you can eat a piece of fruit as well. You may want to keep a diary of the calories consumed per day for a while. If they are coming up over 1800 then I suggest eliminationg the second bowl of cereal or replacing the cereal with the 5:00 meal.
Good luck.

If you reall want to be shallow and shoehorn your way into a smaller dress size, dont follow the advise of an advert.

You can only lose weight by eating correctly, have a breakfast which will kick start your bodys metabolism so lunch will be light work and by evening, you will not need too much in the way of a meal but YOU MUST EAT.

Lots of vitamin C to help your body process the food AND WATER, not juices or cordials but PLAIN OLD WATER as it comesout of the tap.

Many people forget that exercise is also important, you dont need to go to a gym either, you can take a 20 minute brisk walk which is very areobic and burns up callories, taking stairs as opposed to the lift or escallator will also help, everything you do that is physical will help you.

Sadly, if your one of these office types, sat on ya bum, you would need to seriously consider going to a Gym as most jobs that are not office orientated, eg shop floor will keep you fairly fit, office workers on the other hand are dont get much exercise and as a consequence baloon out.

Finally... TV & Microwave dinners, chip chop & Take aways or any food that is processed or falls into the Junk or Fast foot arena should be avoided.

That is the secret, not weight watchers or slender tone or anyother marketed crap that is merely designed to take your money and run...

special K diet is NOT a diet- its a marketing strategy.
its not even the best cereal out there, there are so many other, better ones like Kashi.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You are supposed to eat two bowls of cereal and one main meal a day, not two bowls AND two meals! Here's the official link: http://www.kelloggs.co.uk/specialk/challenge.aspx
It says you can eat fruit, veg and Special K bars as snacks.

I reckon you'll lose a bit of weight in two weeks, but it's not a sustainable diet and you'll put the weight straight back on when you stop... Plain old healthy eating and exercise is the only way to do shift pounds permanently, I'm afraid.

I think you are supposed to be having the Special K for breakfast, then have a normal healthy lunch and a bowl of Special K for dinner INSTEAD of your usual meal.
The cereal doesnt even have to be Special K....its all hype, im sure if you were to replace the Special K with a bowl of Coco Pops or something you would still lose weight because you are eating so little all day!!!

Im doing that diet too.
you will gain weight eating too little...i know it sounds weird but if you eat less than 1200 caloties a day your body will go to inot starvation mode and abrosrb all the calories you eat. I didnt understand this after I gained weight like crazy....
Now I eat cereal in the morning, I eat fruits in betweens meals, I eat my lunch as I always do..rice, beans, corn, salads.. etc.. and then i eat cereal for dinner...thats the way i do it. I've lost weight!!! its works but you have to do it the right wya.

It is supposed to be two meals are cereal and one regular so you are actually eating four meals.

Watch out though, you will loose weight but when you stop the diet it can go on again real quickly - experienced by my best friend!

i don't think the fruit should be counted as a meal,
eating too much fruit unless it's too the extreme, will ever make you fat.
you're doing well, two meals, two bowls of cereal
& you should see a difference within a month or two.
keep it up, do your best & good luck.
free advice from me,
give up meat, it's how i manage to maintain my weight.
or at least eat 3 vegetarian meals a week, it can help, too.

& you're explanation was fine, just hope mine is, too

I thought it was based on replacing two meals with a bowl of cereal. So basically you would have a bowl in the morning for breakfast, then a sandwich, yoghurt and some fruit for lunch followed by a bowl of cereal for dinner.

I think if your eating two bowls of cereal and two meals your actually in danger of putting on weight.

No its not, you should do special k for breakfast, sandwich and fruit for lunch and then special k for tea. They class it as lunch. You can eat carrot sticks and fruit as a snack though but dont eat bread with it as is full of wheat and will just make u put it back on
