I find it funny, too, because I have the same response. I stopped believing in anything a while back because of the relentless preaching. Even when I was a regular churchgoer, people would preach to me and try to "save" me, you know, just in case. I got tired of the emotional roller coaster they put me on, so I just got off. I'm a lot calmer and happier now.
I probably shouldn't say so (it might give them ideas) but if they REALLY want to convert/keep people, they should just stop preaching and start living up to their own beliefs. People will see and people will join/stay. I know I would have.

I agree with you but it's not so much that I rebel from what they are trying to say but the fact that they are forcing their beliefs on me. You can't make someone believe the way you do. I find it utterly ridiculous they say but that's what we are suppose to do. To me it makes them look extremely ridiculous and closed minded to other peoples belief. They are saying everyone elses beliefs are BS and we are all stupid for believing in them. That is why I would never become a christian. I find the lack of spiritual freedom stifling.
EDIT: tk no it's NOT a christian site. Where do you people get that thought from?! christianity is NOT the ONLY religion. Did you miss it says religion & spiritulaity?

I don't know who you refer to. However, you shouldn't change your mind on important issues such as belief in God, or lack thereof, just because someone's behavior does, or does not agree with you. Even if you did change your beliefs because you liked what you heard, would that make the belief true?
It seems there is anger in you directed at people who have had a religious experience of some sort. Try to pinpoint the source of this anger in you. Could it be that you are subconsciously shying away from something bigger than you? After all, if this God business ain't real, then there is no need to get all upset about it. On the other hand if it is ...

Yes, I see what your saying when someone tried to push Christianity on me I stayed away from it for years but people stopped pushing and I'm trying to do right and be a Christian, I wish people could see the more they push religion the farther people back away from it they should use love to draw people in not fear to push them away

I agree w/ you on this, my moms goes to church all the time, and sometimes when I call her and something is bothering me she says "Kris, pray" and I'm like "Mom God's not going to buy me a new car" That's another thing I was brought up Catholic and you're supposed to give them money every week and if you need something from the church (wedding, baptism, etc.) they won't do it unless you pay them. Well when the preist is driving around in a Cadillac and I have a beat *** hoopdy (idk how to spell!) Why the hell should I be giving him money, makes no sense!!!

they're hurting their own cause.

That's the thing about free will. If you don't want to change you don't have to.I couldn't count all the religions out there which doesn't help their argument any. Jesus told his disciples when they left on their journey that if they came to a town that rejected them not to waste their time there. He said to knock the dust of that town off their feet and move on. You can't force faith on some one. But slamming people who do have faith is a little hypocritical don't you think?

I totally understand. I have no problem with religion in general. If you need it, fine, but don't push it on me. That is why politics in the US is so frustrating. God fearers need to have their idea of religion as law. Makes me wish we could vote Christopher Hitchens as president.

Wait til they email you to tell you that you are wrong as well. And if they do, don't waste your breath (or fingertips) trying to show them that you aren't wrong, that your beliefs are fine, and that they can believe what they want and you will believe what you want without the world coming to an end.

No. You step back in response to their preaching. That is your responsibility (your response).
You have a choice. If you ignore what they say in addition due to their delivery of the information, that also is your choice.
Their loss.
At the same time, if they are correct, and you find yourself in Hell (I am not religious), then will, "I chose to back away from them and ignore what they said because of how they said it" be an effective defense?
They don't owe you not to preach.
You don't owe them to listen.
Isn't freedom of speech and freedom of religion wonderful!
I sure like them!
