I'm trying to figure out how to figure this out.....nine calories = one gram of fat? So if your eating something that has 70 calories and zero fat ....are you truly eating something that has 70 calories and 8 grams of fat.....I eat a lot of items everyday that have few calories and zero fat....so I want to know how many of those calories can be eating before one gram of fat is made....example.....one fat free ice cream 50 calories and zero fat.....2 ice creams 100 calories and zero fat....3 ice creams 150 calories and zero fat this to me does not seem right is there any one out there who can shed a light on this subject for me so I can make sure that I'm doing right by my weight loss......Thank you

Zero fat label simply means that the food item (ice cream in your case) has no fat, like milk fat. But empty calories it has as you have already mentioned. 50 calories for a scoop?

Calories come from carbohydrates, proteins and fats. 1 gm of carb or protein has 4 calories and 1 gm of fat 9 calories.

Excess calories from any source (carb or protein or fat) is converted into fat by the body for use in future. Just as you have savings in your bank account.

So, unless you are eating less than what you need and are exercising, you are likely to add weight (fat) from any food including rice, milk, icecream, soda etc.
