if you give it up, you are entitled to nothing, they are not forcing you out.

ask to be transferred somewhere bigger instead of private renting.

You may get some help with your rent in the form of Housing benefit if you give up your tenancy .But you will forgo any tenants rights you may have had like right to buy . How about going to your council and ask to see the books of transfers there may be some one who wants what you have maybe a person on their own or couple who have more rooms than they need and may have family near you who they want to get nearer to. think before you give up and rent private it is not a decision to take lightly especially as you have a baby to consider.

Don't give up your property! you make yourself intentionally homeless and lose all rights to be re housed. You can apply for private lettings, depends on if landlord accepts dhss tenants. You also need to re submit a new housing app form to council and fill in the medical section. Use the social needs bit.

If you would prefer to remain in council housing long term, go to your housing office and discuss your situation. Under no circumstances should you give up your tenancy without carefully considering your options.

On the other hand, if you would prefer to be renting in the private sector, go ahead. Just don't do it because you think you have no other options. You do.

Why? Talk to your Council and your local counsellor , If you are that cramped they may be able to offer you something better. In private accommodation you are all but on your own but where you are you have some rights

Stay put and try and get rehoused into bigger accommodation once the baby is born. One question though, if you live in such cramped accommodation why didn't you think of the consequences of having a baby before you had sorted out where you were going to live????????

hi there...if you give up your council property you will be making yourself voluntarily homeless and will experience great difficulty in been re housed by the council. please do not give up your flat without proper legal advice. i had a flat i gave up and faced 9 years of moving from house to house with no support from the council as they told me it was my choice to quit my tenancy. please be careful what you do next. talk to your housing officer first and get advice from citizens advice bureaux.

If you get it up, not sure you would be entitled to much, they may help pay towards your rent.
