Now that the worst piece of legislation in history is dead, we still have the problem. Illegals are still here. How will we identify who is and is not here legally? National ID'S were a hot topic about a year ago. Would you be in support of a national ID card with SS# DL#,fingerprints, iris scan and picture so that there could be no question as to who you are?
The only way illegals work the system is to steal all this info from someone. Or would you be ok with a more invasive method like a RFID chip under the skin? A barcode tattoo on your palm?

Ok if you had this hypothetical new ID card and it had info on it like your picture fingerprints, iris scan, DNA profile,ETC. How in the world could some one steal it and then say it was them????
Not very easy, but criminals will go to extremes

This is a really good question. I do not and never will support any system that wants to begin marking people like the Nazi's did. Unforetunately, it has already begun - in small dosages.
Our medical society supports putting microchips the size of a piece of rice under everyone's skin so that they can have ready access to their medical records in the event of an emergency or to keep from providing medicines that may conflict with something another doctor may have prescribed.
On the surface, this sounds like a great idea to advance treatment of patients. But when you stop to think about the real consequences of a forced ID of that kind, you have just allowed other people to control your life. These programable chips could be used to separate people but at the cost of freedom to everyone. This would indeed be the ultimate government control over people - something that thankfully, the Nazi's failed to do.
I'm with Dr. Doom. I think we need better driver's licenses or state ID cards that cannot be as easily forged. We definitely need control over our tax payed government officials who are not processing these government IDs with proper documentation.
Have you ever lost your social security card and tried to replace it? You have to show proof of a birth certificate that has been notarized by the court house. You also need to show other documentation with your picture - like a driver's license - to prove that you are who you say you are.
We need to have a hidden chip in government issued ID's that prove that it is really government issued and not fake - nothing more. Our whole life doesn't need to be there to show that we're legal. I don't want someone stealing my card and then having the ability to steal my life because my whole life history is in their hands. That's insanity.
We need less government beurocrats and more government workers to do the job right - this includes increasing the protection of our borders with many more border patrol personnel who don't have their hands tied to do their jobs. If the drug cartel are crossing our borders with machine guns, then we need to arm our border patrol with at least equal equipment to stop these invaders.
Our government has intentionally not acted on proper border security because their end goal is for us to be the Americas of the North American Union. It is up to the citizens to make sure that our government is doing their job to secure our country - that means eliminating a lot of red tape and overhead expense so that we can properly protect our country. I think that a good place to start is by eliminating the traitors to our country who voted to legalize criminals in a time of war.
We also need to do away with lifetime wages and benefits upon departure of our elected officials from their political seats. They can work for a living and pay for their benefits just like the rest of us in the world they helped to create.

The card idea seems good in theory but then there's the potential to lose your card (then all your info is out there somewhere! Can you say "potential identity theft"?), or like you said people could make fake cards. As for chips/tattoos, those could go against some peoples' religious practices, or some people could just be afraid of the process, so I doubt we could get everyone on board for that. Basically checking social security numbers, like we do now, is the only realistic thing I can think of. It's admittedly not the most affective thing (obviously), but I can't think of anything better at the moment...

No, I will not submit to a nationl ID system of any type.
Our driver's license is enough ID already. Make them harder to counterfeit. National IDs store info the same way a Credit Card stores info and can be scanned and duplicated with a $10 scanner from Radio Shack.
With the ILLEGAL immigration bill dead. We concentrate on closing the borders. Then talk legalization. Invasion of privacy and handing your life over to the Gov't is just as dumb as 45 million non tax paying leeches.
Illegals aren't stealing the info. Ppl at the DMV are selling the documents.
For the assmunch blaming liberals for his problems with IDs: The National ID isn't free. Requiring them to vote amounts to a poll tax and is un-constitutional. How about the Gov't staying out of ppl's lives? That's not a liberal agenda. So how do you claim to hate liberals but want to track every ones movements. You do know that the National ID is attached to a database that would also be attached to credit records that can be used to track everything you buy and where you buy it from? It also ties it to a national gun registry database. The gov't can use that info to force states to comply with anti-gun laws and go after gun owners personaly, once those gun laws are in place. I guess you forgot about the Total Information Awareness Program. Read the bill they were pushing. Stay out of my life.

Certainly no invasive methods like chips under the skin, but I would welcome a National ID. Other countries have them, and it's very common because not everyone has a passport.
The only people who complain about the ID's are wacked-out ultra liberals. They complain it is an invasion of privacy? WHAT? To be able to prove you are really you crosses the bounds of privacy? That is absurd. We have a drivers license. Is that an invasion of privacy?
This is the same type of idiocy the Libs used against having voter registration cards (which we would use to prevent voter fraud). They complained it unfairly targeted minorities. Once again..... WHAT? I think some idiot like Sen. Kenndy said that blacks would have trouble going to pick up their cards. Once again......WHAT? In any case, the Republicans called his bluff and said they would have them delivered to anyone who was "too poor" to pick up their cards.
At some point, we have to stop this insanity of complicating everything. National ID cards are a good idea. Any complaints regarding them are specious and without merit.

No chip, no barcode...I am not a product for sale or a vehicle who requires GPS tracking ability.
I would not oppose a national ID card or being fingerprinted.
I think all social service agencies should be compelled to establish identity. I think any credit agency or bank should be compelled to confirm identity, that would help reduce identity theft.
I think illegals should be added to DNA data-base prior to any deportation.

In my opinion, we shouldn't have to do anything to prove citizenship, because illegals shouldn't be here. But we don't live in a peaceful world. No matter what method is chosen, if a new one is chosen, before the ink is dry, the forgers will have an illegal solution.
My hope is that now border security will be funded and the existing laws enforced. Legal immigrants can be welcomed into our country. By enforcing existing laws we can see what works and what needs correction. And hopefully, proceed in a rational manner to new immigration laws.
BTW. This morning I wrote my senators. I said thank you to Jim DeMint, and, well, I was less kind to Lindsey Graham. Please write your senators today.

I would be all for a national ID card. However a forced barcode tattoo or microchip would make me demand a new government entirely.
Unfortunately no matter what is done those there Illegally will still find a way around it. somehow or another.

I would not support any system, that penalizes Legal Americans. I would Support that all 50 States, go to a New
Requirement that requires a passport or Certified Birth
Certificate to obtain a Drivers License or state id card.
