Sometimes, it's easier to wait until a dog has grown up a little bit and stopped being as hyper and crazy as they were when they were younger pups. You can always teach a dog something. The saying "you can't teach a dog new tricks" is a lie.

I have the same dog around the same age, but its like she has no attention span. I have been trying to teach her some tricks. She is just worried about running around and barking at the neighbors. At least they are cute dogs! lol

yes any dog no matter the age can be taught.
all training in the beginning should be done on a leash where corrections can be given. this is why your dog won't come when called and is being trained it doesn't have to.
I would suggest a dog obedience class.

I adopted a dog who was about the same age as your dog. I took her to obedience school and she did great. It is not too late. You have to be consistent. I used the positive reinforcement method. Praise him when he does things right. Never hit him.

Yeah, you can still teach your dog tricks.. But it's easier to train them when they are about 4 months old.. If he don't come when you call him, you can try clapping your hands to attract his attention, but if it still don't work you can use tiny amounts of food.. Good luck..
