Yes, there is a correlation and no, it's not that strange. Put simply, conservative Christians ("Bible Belters," if you will) do not want gays to have pride. They want them to have shame and guilt, and be "converted." If they admit you can't be converted to a straight, then you must be converted to a celibate.
I'm afraid it's not the least bit funny.

The whole notion of gay pride is based on a feeling of self-respect and personal worth secondary to participation in a lifestyle religion views as an abomination.
How could you expect any other type of reaction -- fanatic or otherwise -- from religious people who understand the scripture.
If you make such posts outside this forum then by all means your criticism is relevant. However, making such correlation between homosexuality, pride, and any semblance of propriety in a religious forum is asking for criticism of such a lifestyle.

Lesbians and Gays have a lot to be proud of actually. The pride march in certain parts of the west seems to be slightly redundant seeing as we have all of the rights that we want. However homophobia persists and gay pride is the one day of the year that we can claim the streets and be completely open about our sexuality without fear of reprisal. And not all Christians are antigay there are many pro-gay Christians who march with us. However, there are obviously a sizable number of homophobic religious folks out there and that is unfortunate.

What do you want to know about pride, Evidently you don't know anything yet about pride, I am a Christian for 37 yrs, I take pride in that, But a spiritual pride & not a worldly pride, I am an American, & I take pride in that, both worldly & spiritually. I am a dad, A Brother & a Grandfather to 9 grandkids, a Husband, a Uncle, A great uncle, & I take pride in all of these things. But if you are talking about gays & lesbians, there is no Pride in it.

Umm, you make a strange correlation yourself, comparing gay pride to religious fanaticism .... pride in work well done and pride in your sin are two different things, right?
I mean, would you consider your pride in your child comparable to the pride Charles Manson felt in killing all those people?

It might just seem that way. I am what you refer to as a "Bible belter," since I live in GA, but I have never said anything negative about anyone who is "gay" or not. My philosophy is to live and let live. I have too much to think of concerning myself to worry about what anyone else is doing.
I am a Christian, so I assume you automatically hate me and think I am the scum of the earth. That's your call. However, if you would give some of us a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised to find out that we are good people.
I am fair to everyone I meet, I never preach the gospel, I never try to convert anyone, and I am friendly to everyone I see.
I'm sad that you think we are all so horrid.

Pride is a vice, which pride itself inclines every man to find in others, and to overlook in himself
