I'm not an Indian, but I think you are right to be proud to be one. India has an amazing culture and history. Most of the people in the world have no appreciation for, (or knowledge of), the great, ancient cultures of this world, which is sad. I think people would benefit from knowing a lot more about India.

If you are in India and an Indian citizen, GOOD FOR YOU! Always glad to meet someone who is patriotic for their own country.
If you are in America and you are proud to be an American of Indian ancestry, GOOD FOR YOU! Glad to meet a fellow American patriot.
If you are in America, an American citizen, and proud to be an Indian OVER being an American. You have my contempt. Similarly, I'd assume you'd have nothing but contempt for a person who would come to India, become a citizen, and then say, "I am proud to be AMERICAN" when their first loyalties should be their country.
We choose where we live in modern society. Such a person is not worthy of where they live. I hope that's not you. I love India. Been there.

I'm not Indian, but taking pride in something you have no control over - such as the part of land you happened to be born on or the colour of your skin is fundamentally flawed.
It is complete chance that you are Indian, so why be proud of it? I'd rather take pride in my own acheivements and those of my family and friends. The fact that I am English is neither here nor there.

YOU KNOW WHAT ?YOU SHOULD BE. EVERYONE SHOULD BE PROUD OF WHO THEY ARE AND WHERE THEY COME FROM AND BE PROUD TO BE HUMAN. EVERY COUNTRY HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE WORLD IN THEIR SPECIFIC WAY. DON'T LET PEOPLE TELL YOU OTHERWISE-BE PROUD. THEY ARE IGNORANT AND UNEDUCATED AND DO NOT KNOW MANY THINGS. INDIANS ARE VERY CLEVER AND ARTISTIC. THEY ARE ALSO VERY SPIRITUAL AND HAVE FAMILY TRADITIONS AND HONOUR. MOST OF THE DOCTORS IN THE WORLD ARE INDIANS ETC ETC I CAN GO ON FOR EVER.

Well I am not Indian but my grand parents were then they moved to Pakistan when my parents were little so I am Pakistani..
I think that Indian Military needs to get out of Kashmir because it is a mainly Muslim part and if they want independence then they should get it from both Pakistan and India.......its retarded how both countries have been fighting for 50 years. Main reason for Indian army is to defend against Pakistan and main reason for Pakistani army is to defend against India and frankly I am tired of it..
