Never mind the mechanic, just turn off the air con. Problem solved and no nasty mechanic's bill to pay.

Can I have my 10 points now please?

I deal with AC a whole lot. Your question does not ring true. A/C cool the glass especially at night water condense on the outside. Recirculate a/c air a lot and containment's stick to the glass. Mostly like a thin layer of smoke, this is Vinyl residue, Poly foam seat cushions emit pollution as does other car smoke it gets on the inside of the windows. I haven't noticed stickiness. AND driving with the sun low in the sky you can wipe the film easily off with your finger. Iknow cleaning glass is a pain but if you clean the windows inside and out about once a month it will stay clear enough.

Is this happening to the inside of the windshield or the outside? If its on the inside you have a leak in the ''core'' in the AC system and it should be replaced. The mechanic you took it to must be inexperienced in the heating/cooling system of cars. Take the car to a repair shop that deals with the heating and cooling systems on cars. And for future reference, when asking a question about a car it is wise to tell us the year and model of your car.

The heater element in your car has sprung a leak throwing radiator coolant onto your windshield. Get it fixed immediately or quit driving your car until it is fixed, as this can cause you to have an accident not being able to see where your going.
