I am buying myself a nice journal from Aspinal of London and there is the option of having it personalised. I am looking for a really nice phrase or quote (something short) that will mean something to me everyday. I'm thinking perhaps something in latin? Anyone got any good ideas?
To help you out, I am quite a philosopical person although not religious. I value the simple things in life and want to remind myself of that with this phrase.
Thanks

Esse quam videri.

It means "To be rather than to seem". Sort of, be true to yourself and don't just follow the crowd and be superficial.

Elvis Presley : "thoughts" (words & music via invoice unusual - Scott Davis) thoughts, pressed between the pages of my thoughts thoughts, sweetened by the a protracted time only like wine Quiet thoughts come floating down And settle softly to the floor Like golden autumn leaves around my ft I touched them and that they burst aside with candy thoughts, candy thoughts Of retaining palms and crimson bouquets And twilight trimmed in pink haze And guffawing eyes and easy techniques And quiet nights and delicate days with you thoughts, pressed between the pages of my thoughts thoughts, sweetened by the a protracted time only like wine, thoughts, thoughts, candy thoughts 2. "reminiscence" from the musical Cats (The lyrics, written via Trevor Nunn, have been in accordance with T. S. Eliot's poems "Preludes" and "Rhapsody on a Windy night") ineffective night no longer a valid from the pavement Has the moon lost her reminiscence? She is smiling on my own interior the lamplight, the withered leaves convey collectively at my ft And the wind starts off to moan reminiscence, all on my own interior the moonlight i will dream of the previous days i replaced into pleasing then I bear in mind the time I knew what happiness replaced into enable the reminiscence stay back each streetlamp looks to beat A fatalistic warning somebody mutters and the line lamp gutters and quickly it will be morning daylight hours i could anticipate the dawn i could think of of a clean existence and that i shouldn't supply in. whilst the dawn comes this night would be a reminiscence too And a clean day will start up (music interlude) Burnt out ends of smoky days The stale chilly scent of morning A streetlamp dies; yet another night is over yet another day is dawning... touch me! it rather is very easy to pass away me all on my own with the reminiscence Of my days interior the solar... in case you touch me, you will understand what happiness is look, a clean day has started.
