I was told recently that "a butterfly" is a symbol of the Resurrection. Didn't say whether it was of Jesus' Resurrection or the Resurrection to come. Anybody know the origin or anything else about this?

There is no physical symbol of the resurrection just as there is no physical symbol of true Christianity. As 2 Cor. 57 says that Christians are "walking by faith, not by sight."

That's quiet a strange analogy. Actually, not when you think about it. :)

Jesus was rapped up in bandages in a tomb for a couple of days, just like a chrysalis is. When he left the tomb he was a new person. The sin had been taken off His shoulders and He could fly (so to speak; or live unburdened) He was magnificent in beauty because of what he had done.

Just make sure you remember, its just an analogy. It has no Biblical reference.

it's more a symbol of transformation through suffering used a lot by new age teachers/gurus. the caterpillar goes through the pupa where it metamorphoses, its body is all mushed and squashed and then it becomes a butterfly. so it's not Resurrection.

the egg is a symbol of resurrection. it's like a dead thing, a stone, and something living, a chicklet comes out of it.

You should not always believe what you are told .There are a lot of con artists just waiting for someone like you to scam.
Don`t believe the brown bag full of money either ,They show it to you and offer to split it ,if you contribute $200.00 towards it .
